Here is the situation, Louisiana lacks major 4x4 wheeling areas, the biggest and most used resource is the Bonnet Carrie Spillway just north of New Orleans, It was built to protect the communities downstream of the spillway from Mississippi River floods by diverting water from the Mississippi River into Lake Pontchartrain.. The spillway was built from 1929 to 1931 and is owned and operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Since it's completion, it has been opened during the floods of 1937, 1945, 1950, 1973, 1975, 1979, 1983, and 1997.
More Info on the spillway This area when the conditions are right is open to public and OHV use. This past 4th of july a buch of ass hats went into designated pipelined areas which were marked non OHV or ATV and destroyed the maintainence roads to and from the area. Although you may not wheel the area you may want to check out our goop someday yourself...Here is a petition we are signing to have it reopened, please sign it on behalf of our local wheeling community.
Thanks,
Josh
