Need Your opinion on this k20 I'm lokking at. update!!

As for the state, I don't know what the rule is, but I have purchased quite a few vehicles and I just drive them home, after all the law says you can drive a vehicle if you have a permission from the owner, and as long as it's currently registered, I am good to go.
Going on 10 years doing so, eiher I am really lucky or this state is not that bad in this case.
As for speedo not working, I would have to say any claims for accurate mileage with a bad speedo had better be backed up by something concrete or I call BS.

I'm gonna call my insurance, I think they will give me temp. insurace
I asked him how long the speedo's been down for and he said 2 weeks. so maybe the cable snapped.

Numbers matching on trucks is no big deal. Could have been something simple such as new gaskets needed so someone pulled the motor out and repainted it.

Only old muscle cars should be allowed to retain the numbers matching slang. :waytogo:

That doesn't explain the incorrect A/C compressor.

This a/c compressor is on an 85 k30, looks similar. 1st pic is the 85 k30.

Now that i see both pics, the one in this truck is set higher than the other. Maybe they set it up like that to do a serp belt setup. I cant tell. what you guys think.

Oh and my insurance will give me a letter stating that i'm covered on this vehical, and if i get pulled over I have to show them the paper and i'll be fine.

yeah i wouldnt put it on a 16' trailer... my truck backed into a garage... 19' 9" as i had 3" in front of the door....

barely fit... too long of a drive to have it hang over as if you dont counter the weight correct.... would mess with tongue weight and could be a messy spill.....
 
It is kind of interesting some of the things on this site. I have seen a truck like that, more original stock seats and stuff, everything worked on it with about 90k original miles on it. It was a one owner truck. He had it listed for 5 it he finally sold it on ebay, could not sell it local at all.

My '85 K30 looks identical to the first pic, too.

My '87 V30 has the A/C setup like the second pic. But its all torn apart and resting in the bed. As is the front clip, too.

A/C locations isn't anything I'd be worried or concerned about. If someone did move it or use the older type compressor, I'd be more concerned about the lines and hoses and making sure they're either correct and not butchered or cobbled up mess.

I've seen an '85 K30 with the newer type compressor on the passenger side before, too. And I've also seen many K-trucks with A/C stuff on either side of the wrong years, too. Again, that would be the least of my worries.

If you're still unconfident, get a report from Carfax and see what it shows up.

I'm gonna do the carfax anywhey, but i'm not to worried about the a/c. As long as she runs, and shifts good.

Thats the right attitude to use. :waytogo:

Don't be scared to walk away from the deal if you get there and find anything wrong with the truck thats unmentioned by the seller.

You're better off paying for an 8 hour round trip than paying for $6K+ in a loan. Inspect it thoroughly.

The reason why I ask is because I HIGHLY doubt that truck has 66k miles on it. Steering problems? Odometer issues? Hood liner shredded? That doesn't usually become an issue until more miles are on there, or if the truck was let to sit for a long time, or it was abused.

If I were you I would pull those floor mats and check the carpet. They should be barely worn with 66k miles on it.

Have you run a CarFax on the VIN? I would not be surprised to find out it has 166k to 266k miles on it.

I'm getting the vin # and doing the carfax report asap. The interior was all redone in the truck. Dont worry i'm gonna check every inch of this truck before i buy it. Ive bought alot of these chevy's over the years and i think i know what to look for. I'm bringing my buddy for a second set of eyes, he's a mechanic also. Thanks for the tips.

Awesome, I was a little worried you might be getting taken for a ride ... I know I have looked at some trucks described as wonderful which ended up having a TON of issues.

Trucks are like women, they all have issues you just have to find the one with issues your ok with :thumb:
