Anybody have a pair of nerf/step bars that would bolt onto my 87 K20 that they want to unload for cheap? Truck's stock, but too tall for some (girls, I mean). Either I gotta get a step or a handle on top.
What are some inexpensive options (not running boards, I kinda hate those.)?
Thanks, everyone.

Well I can't honestly say I've had that problem. I'm known for my high standards. Maybe you could use your Hi-Lift jack for those honey's and buddies alike

Mudhog - is "Baxter's" some local shop up in the NW? Do they have a website?

Baxter's is an auto parts store up in that area, Just like a Kragen, or Pepboys, but no wait as i recall Baxters is better than them, They had most of the parts i needed for my Riv Right on the Shelf. I wish they were down here too.

Dang, I just threw away a set of black Smittybilts! The driver's side was still pretty good, but the passenger's side was pretty mangled and had a funny arch to it from a few too many rocks! I now have the Sullibilt Sliders on their...I could have shipped them to ya to see what you thought, but they're in the trash dump now!

I checked my Smittybilt catalog, the lowest I could get you the Smittybilt black nerf bars for is $137.18 from work here (AutoAccessory.com). If you are interested, let me know. But if you are just looking for a generic helper step, you can find them for way less (like a Carr step or something)...

Keith - I just spent some time at AutoAccessory.com. I could not find any nerf bars or a grille guard for my '87 K5. (BTW - nice picture on the "project vehicle" page. Is that a CK5 sticker on the windshield?) I'm also looking for a roof rack/basket system to mount my spare. One question - will a nerf bar for an '88 - 'XX fit on my 87? How much drilling will I need to do? I'd like to install the black powder coated.

Behemoth,

Yeah, I apologize that a lot of the K5 stuff is not up on the general site, I was just recently given the "ok" to even put up the K5 part of the site, so am working on making it better and getting more K5 specific products on there! Now that the Holiday rush is over, I might find a minute to do that! ha,ha

Of course that is a CK5 sticker on the windshield!!

If you are interested in the black Smittybilt nerf bars or a grille guard, email me at [email protected] and I will look them up for you in their catalogs! On the rack system, I use the ConFerr rack, which is a great system. I would love to sell it to you, but honestly on a truck shipping item like that, you are better off getting it locally (like at a 4WP store or something), because by the time you pay the Truck Freight the price pretty much sucks - just being honest with you! Just FYI, I have the 4'L x 5'W Porthole 3 piece rack, and I laid down some expanded steel as a base.

Thanks! There's a 4X4 shop here called Maob Off Road of Kentucky moaboffroad.net. This guy says he can get almost anything or else fabricate it if it's not made commercially. I figured shipping charges would kill me. Still - nice site though - lots of good stuff. I'm just getting my "shopping list" together since this truck is basicly stock and I want to do a lot mods to it.
