New acquisition.

I like it. That is actually my next favorite body style after the 73-87s. Don't care much for anything else.

funny how everyone hates new body styles. Hear it everytime they change em, then the ones made prior start to look better as time goes by...In my case its because I can finally afford them!
Great platform to start with Kert! Those vortecs were so much better than the TBI's!

I've had my 98 ECSB 2wd for a couple years and really like it. Really nice truck! Good luck!

I still think my 95 burb was one of the best overall vehicles I've owned, super comfortable, seated 7 comfortably, 8 if necessary, road and drove real good....just didn't have the balls to pull what I've got now.

I think about this too. Today's expensive new rigs will eventually be someones cheap beater to fix up. It'll be like " ya, I just picked up this old 2014 silverado. I'm going to fix it up and make it a wheeler" :haha:

No they won't. None of the newer stuff will last. The interior of my parents 07 Tahoe with 150k on it shows more wear than my 91 with 275k. All the materials, plastics, upholstery, body panels are cheap, light, and not durable.

Story of my life! Seems like forever my main ride or DD is always about a 10+ year old clean rig I found while searching. I look at price tags of new trucks and :eek1: I'll get by like always and enjoy it. Seeing some trucks over $50K nowadays makes me think I could add half a house on my house! :haha:

Back in 1988 I did buy a 1987 Short Bed 2WD with 30K miles on it. IIRC it was around $6k! :eek1: But I had a good paying job with a lot of hours and a 1 1/2 hour commute each way so it was justified, looked and ran just as good when I sold it at 200K miles.

Looking forward to see what you make of it Kert!

Good pick on using that truck to build up...still one of my favorite body styles. We had a brand new 98 black Z71,nice truck. Traded it for our duramax.

The only thing I didn`t like about it was the third door would rattle over bumps. took it to the dealer to fix it three times before they got sick of me and said "they rattle we can`t fix it" :haha:

I gotta disagree....have you ever noticed how ragged out most of our trucks interiors are?
Cracked dashes, seat covers so worn out in 80K miles the foam is coming out and down to springs...etc.
My 99 2500 has 225k on it and the interior is still in very good shape...I do take care of it, and only repair I've had to make is to the drivers seat...replaced the lower portion of the leather as it was split open from the inevitable sliding off the seat to get out. I think my 99 is light years ahead of quality compared to the 80's stuff. That is the newest truck I've owned so I can't say about the teens trucks holding up...time will tell.

so.... since no one else did, I gotta ask....

is this the next wheeler build? or is that, yet to be divulged? :haha:

Good buy. I'm sure you are aware of the intake gasket issues with the vortecs, I had to do them in my old 98 at 120K Km's.
I always enjoy a good obs build, of course SAS'd ones are best!

Nope, this is not the new wheeler build.

This one is code name R.A.D. There will be a full build thread for this one, once we get to going on it.

New wheeler is still top secret.
