new Build.. EDIT pics are up!

Blazer would be cool...not to mention you ought to have a garage full of parts by now to steal from.

If you go with one of the pickups I vote Toyota. SAS is better, 85 SAS with the EFI is good (but the carb is still more common for that year), and even IFS is good. Toyota built a good IFS and even put the torsion bars up high and didn't hang them down low like everyone else. They're not incredibly slow either (but then with a 16 year old isn't that a good thing?) and they're famous for good mileage. Last forever as well. You can fit 31's stock and 33's without a lift if you do it right. Parts are everywhere and cheap.
Also, the 3.0L V6 isn't a bad engine. Buddy had one with 100k+ and it ran great and got him decent gas mileage. Mid-upper teens regularly. The key with them is to see if the 3.0L has had the head gaskets and other items replaced when Toyota did their big recall back in the day. Since it was free this is a common thing to have had done. Heck, I've even heard of the odd Toyota dealer replacing/fixing/whatever the 3.0L's in recent times for free...even on rusty northern trucks.

Sure...rub the no rust thing in...bastard...

...looks like a good starting point.

Dont worry AJM the first thing I do when I hit the lottery is get a semi load full of road salt and go dump it all over that 07 of shawns....corse by the time that happens that pickup will have long been a buggy and dismantled for parts Im sure.:D

some parts are going to be sold so he can use the money for other needed parts, the plan is to tackle one project on it a month and teach him everything about it.

bumpers
hitch
spare tire carrier
top
doors
hood
and interior all need to be sold

Holy Giant Muffler Batman!!!

Why sell the hard top? He might want to have it for those summer months (if you guys fix the A/C) or for winter.... just a thought.

Oy...that thing's so cherry...

...wow...cherry again...

...cherry still...

Damn I know where I'm going when I buy my K5.

Unrelated question...how do those spare tire carriers mount to the body structure and not tear out?

they have plates behind them that you install through the tail light area and behind the bottom of the fender if I remember.

Nice. Doubt they'd hold a 11.00R16 Michelin but cool none-the-less.

that might be out of budject, but maybe we could do some cash and stuff for your build, we'll see.

Shawn , I could use the 1/2 tons you remove , I need matched gearing to reinstall in my 83 ( Yea I didn't mention to CK5 I am restoring my Blazer to clean panels and 33's yet :pimp: ) , either whole axles or just the complete centers .

take payments , you know where I work :thumb:

we could do that,

I will need to find some cheap 3/4 tons with 4.10 gears.

I figure from the u-pull it on half off day is my ticket.

what rear is in the burb? ff or semi floater?
