Had to build this new front bumper/crossmember pretty much out of neccesity.
Last couple weekends I've been out "testing" to try to be ready to make it to a club run next month. It's flexy enough that without having a bumper up front, two things happened, the fan hits the the fan shroud, and the welds holding the engine crossmember on were cracked and failing...within 2 very very mild runs. So I cut off the ends off the frame and welded the box tube in there. That and a couple other little gussets should take care of that issue. I think thats gonna make a good spot to mount a winch too.
Heres a shot showing my approach angle-
Not to bad for leaf springs I think. I could move the axle forward another 1", for a total of 3", with some zero rates and improve that even more.
Sure wish I had a taller shop door-
Goin for another "test run" in the moring. Working the bugs out.
