Bp71K5, I'm with ya... 1900.00 is a lot of coin for bumpers, I was a bit shocked myself when I wrote the check!

:doah:

It's all good as long as the wifey doesn't find out!

Those look very nice, well thought out and worth the money.
How much input did you give them, or did they just have something to model after?
I like how the carrier fits in the bumper, again very well thought out and well built.

Steve, I spent quite a bit of time searching for pics and viewing the websites of online fab shops to get an idea of what I wanted. My main goal was to add some offroad functionality while complimenting the killer body lines of a first gen K5. They guys at the shop basically took my drawings and started to mock up some "basic" forms for the bumpers. The rear was the biggest challenge by far. The idea for the recessed carrier came about when we realized the pivot point would obstruct the tailight. The shop owner came up with the idea of recessing the carrier and sinking the pivot down into the bumper. They worked on the bumpers for about 4-5 weeks. I stopped by about once a week to check progress and see how things were coming together. They had never built bumpers like this before as most of thier work is focused on Jeeps and Toyotas. It was a lot of money to spend on bumpers but it worth to get exactly what I wanted for a vehicle that I plan on keeping forever.

thanks, Nate

RGV, with the time change it gets dark before I get home now. I'll snap some pics this weekend and fire them off to you. You're rig is SICK by the way.... makes me wanna get another K5 to build into a offroad beast!

thanks, Nate

Those are definitely the cleanest first gen bumpers I have ever seen. Very nice!!

Nice Work!

What material did they use for the bumpers themselves? A lot of fabwork but turned awesome.

I think you got a deal on your bumpers, I mean look at bumpers like Fab Fours......They get $2000+ for just the front bumper and I like yours better, they fit the K5 perfectly.
Big props to you and the shop that built them.

Oh He takes checks? That's different! :D

Earl, would you be willing to ask the fab shop if they would be interested in taking orders for other CK5 members for these same bumpers for first gens? I'd be willing to pay that kind of money for bumpers like that too. Thanks

That is a nice clean look. Almost looks like it could be factory. Noticed you run the same tires as I do on my '72.

Big Blzn, I'll definitelty talk to the shop owners. This may be something they are interested in, I know they are very enterprising and meticulous about thier work product.

I think thats a pretty good price for some nice custom fit bumpers like that. I payed a little over 800 for my front bumper after shipping (freight was like 288 :doah:) Add in a rear bumper and powder coating and it wouldnt be all that far off IMO. The important thing is your happy with them. Awesome looking bumpers!
