new cam, backfires thru intake

my timing chain i got from naapa in the summer....is it nessesary to replace it with comps timing chain? or are they the same?

If its a new chain, no need to change it. If you wanted to tune the cam by changing cam timing, you could use a different one. But since this one is almost new, I say keep it.
