hey guys, i was wondering if chevy makes a 5500HD in a pickup body style. i saw a lifted new (08-10) crew cab duramax dually on 22.5 alcoas and on the door it said 5500HD. Is there such a thing? i know they have 4500 and 5500 in the kodiak style but im not sure about the pickup body style.

Ill have a pic up soon...

I've seen them with beds added BUT, I believe GM delivers them as chassis cab only, what is put on them is up to the consumer. I believe all the pickup bed trucks were done by conversion companies.

Looks like someone wanted their truck to look bigger than it is...

Bingo! Badge engineering! LOL! Nice looking truck but, it's just a lifted 3500 with wheel adapters (bigger lug pattern), fancy big truck wheels and tires, and a new set of 5500 badges.

thats what i figured. I didnt get to talk to the guy, i went to ask him about the truck and he looked at me and walked away

any specs on the 5500 hd

What one looks like (a GMC but, you get the idea):

I don't think GM has updated the looks of their medium duty line-up yet, if they have, I haven't seen the new look. I think they are still rocking the previous generations overall look for now, probably be a few more years before an update.

ANYWAYS...
Good looking truck Tomford! Looks like they wanted to have a flashy rig to show off for their business! I definitely think it would be cool if GM would make a 5500 pickup model like the one ya snapped a pic of (like Ford does with the 450/550) I think it would be a cool truck! (Especially if they could see fit to put a solid axle in it like the pic I posted but have it not be a tall Kodiak style body but just a regular pickup style cab and frontend setup, would be PIMP!!!)

you can see the drop bracket for the tbar crossmebmer that goes with the lift kit.

and gm sold the med truck line if i recall along with the allision tranny line but kept the 1000 model for there dmax trucks.

i drove a truck like that with 19.5 tires n rims and didnt like it 1 bit. drove like crap if you ask me. and vary stiff feelin on the road from no tire flex and give.

also he was going threw front end parts much faster . extra weight was eating them up. and breaking took longer.
