New Chevy Trucks Suck Ass!

Update

I was able to leave the truck at the dealer Monday night; (after a ball busting adventure trying to get a loaner from them. They have a fleet of three all of which are down due to inspections or registrations). I waited all day Tuesday and finally called around 4:30 to see if they had any luck fixing it.... NOPE they still had no idea why the ABS light came on and off. They tried to blame my lift, but the lift was installed four years ago, and the ABS problem is less than 3 weeks old. So I'm going into day two without my DD, and little faith I will get my truck back fixed.

Yeah I have all ready told my self that i'm not buying a newer Chevy. Everyone that I know is having trouble with them. Like my buddys dad. He bought a 2004 1500 4x4. He all ready had to change the chip that runs his speedo and a few other things that cost $400+. He has to replace the hub on the front tire thats another 400. It has 80,000 on it and smells like oil really bad. He does not beat on it just drives it to work and back.

I think you all just got bad luck with your rigs. For the past 25-30 yrs. my whole family has driven chevys. About 25 cars and trucks total, 20 of them being trucks. Waterpump just went out on the suburban and that was replaced for free. Ony problem was the caddys. BOth dad and grandparents had one and they were lemons. Their co-workers had caddys to and theirs are perfectly fine. I jsut think you go a lemon.

Day three and counting....

I called the dealer yesterday afternoon at around 4pm. They still have no idea just what the problem is coming from, the mechanic wants another day to try to diagonis the source. This is turning into a ton of bull****. With all these resources they still can't find and fix the problem. At this point I'm so frustrated I just want to scream!

I'm not defending the dealership your truck is at but having worked as a tech at one for 11 years sometimes this stuff just sucks to track down. I've had customers cars for over 2 weeks and driven over 250 miles test driving trying to duplicate and diagnose problems. Keep this in mind too, the tech doesn't get paid for his time until he finds something failed so it's not any fun for him either ;)

Update Day three and counting...

So i get a call from the service manager. He says it's because the company that installed the lift didn't add extention cable to the speed sensor wiring when they installed it. So for FOUR years the suspension has been rubbing the wiring and that's the cause of the ABS failure.... and guess what GMPP doesn't cover that. Fu**ing great, I guess I won't have ABS anymore. Or at least until I replace it at cost.

Not defending GM, but it sounds like it wasn't their fault (?)

ABS continues

Just an update for those of you that might care. The problem seems to be connected to the three ground wires attached to the frame. My mechanic removed them from the frame, wire brushed off the rust and replaced them. And guess what the problem did not return for 4 weeks. I now have to repeat this proceedure every 3-4 weeks or else the annoying bells start up. It's interesting that it never turned out to be a problem with my lift, or some other type of bull****. I understand these machines are complex, but I don't get a warm and fuzzy in regard to the future with this truck. I highly doubt that I will be owning it in 20 years, like my K5.

So you have to continue taking loose the wires and cleaning up underneath or lights and whistles go off?? That SUCKS!!

I'd definately trade it off but that's just me

My water pump just went out in my 06' HD after only 43,000 miles, it was under warenty but I had to pay a $200 deductable plus parts NOT covered under warenty. Totaled $359 .

Sucks...

Yeah everytime, I have to clean it connection up. Mind you that Chevy has two screws... that don't screw ino the frame! They just sit inside the empty, none drilled hole. I really not happy. The brakes also act funny after a couple of days of the bells, the mechanical brake is competing with the ABS system = sqwishy feeling brakes.

The original water pump on my 77' gave up the ghost in July. Just dug out the receipt. Parts $43, Labor $60. Shop supplies $3. Glad I don't have an 06'! :haha:

My buddy has an '01 1500 with around 150k miles on it and hasnt really had any probs with it. He treats that truck like crap. Other than oil changes he does no preventitive maintenance (even those are not regular). The only probs he has had is a busted rear end and the gas guage doesnt work so well.

I think sometimes you get lucky and get a good one, sometimes you dont.
my buddy has an 02 sierra and is the same way with it, we charge deep puddles, fly over whoops and trash the **** out of it and its a completely stock 2wd so i 2nd the luck of the draw on the new chevys.... but i want an 04 ss SOOOOO BAD ADFLSADFJDSALJDSLFA

Get rid of the DexiCool and erplace it with real anti Freeze. Too expensive and what do you really gain. It's no easier on the block than regular A/Freeze. Just another selling tool to make money. I run regular A/Freeze in my 2000 K3500, nothing wrong, all though it say's I'm supposed to run Dexi-Cool !!!

I had a 96 tahoe and the only big problem i had was the intake manifold gasket, changed that and ran fine then i started having problems with the starter. 7 starters later i realize its a loose ground. I own a dodge 2500 now and love it. I will only buy old chevys

Update

As of yesterday, my Red brake lights and my service 4wd warning went off. It seems that my 4wd is now out( possible switching motor $485) and the ABS module is out and the computer is not reading it.......................I think I'm going to trade it in.....I can't afford all of these problems.
