I'm just throwing this out there, in the event I need to buy a new engine.
What crates are recommend for a Chevy 350? Affordable but reliable is the goal. $5-6k would be about maximum money allowed.

Carbed, basic 350, NO flat tappet is what I'm after nothing more, nothing less.

Long blocks aren't out of the question. As most of the stuff on the present 350 is new. I don't have the time or want to rebuild the present one , if needed.

Companies:
Blue print
West coast engines
GM performance.
Or what say you?

No engine houses in your area? Call and price a rebuild

I called and emailed the guy who built the one for my Blazer but haven't heard back. I haven't found any local guys who do rebuilds. I am looking though.

I did however, just find this place

I just put a new engine in my 73 C10. It was from ATK Performance. https://www.high-performance-engines.com/chevy-350-base-engine-345hp-p/hp98.htm

I was looking for something pretty specific because I wanted a roller cam, one-piece rear main, and old school heads to fit my Edelbrock ProFlo4. They were the only builder I could find that offered that combo. I've only just put about 50 miles on it so I can't give a long term review, but so far so good. Also needed something under $3500.

I did some searching on ATK engines and from what I found the engines from their "Performance" side were reviewed pretty well. @folkenheath said he has a source to get the ATK Performance engines if you want to check out a CK5 vendor.

I will say I think BluePrint is the way to go if you have the money.

The blueprint like I linked? The general long block?

Plus I've already invested a lot of $$$ into this c10 not to mention the sweat and curse words along with the $$. seems rather ridiculous to use a beat up old 350 of dubious origin and condition as the heart.

I was thinking more in regards to just general quality, BluePrint is good.

More thoughts just from an opinion side of things. I would try to find a roller cam block if possible. At the very least, I would strongly suggest getting a one-piece rear main block. I've always had the best luck with those not leaking. I had to wait about 4 months for mine because they are short on cores. I am able to send my old block back for a core even though it's not a roller cam/one-piece rear main block.

I can get GM crate engines, blue print, or ATK.

I just checked some stock, prices range from $4300 to $6400 plus freight for long blocks to complete engines. These are blue print and some GM. All ATK are out of stock at my supplier.

I can order other stuff just letting you know what's readily available at least from me anyway.

@mrk5
I saw that stroker...
But I'm also saw this and leaning this way as it's somewhat affordable. Not yet affordable but hopefully in a few months I'll have $$ set aside just not today.. hahaha

Ok, I I'm after this, I think, unless the guy who did my Blazer engine locally gets back to me.
I want one I can drop in, add fluid and go.

I can order that, but not in stock.

This is in stock...

And this...

Along with a 430 HP 383 long block only for $4700.

What's the lead time for the 350? I can't pull the trigger today for the engine anyway. 383, while tempting, Im after a drop in and go.
@folkenheath

If its one of the ones in stock probably a week or so, they usually ship within a day or two.

If its not in stock, then who knows these days, weeks, months, years?

Ha,
Fair enough. Then I will consider the 355.
Thanks for the information.

No problem, just keep in mind the stock status will likely change so I likely won't have the same results later.

This is at my distributor, not at Blueprint.
