New exhaust system, what muffler to run?

You musta read my mind! Ive never liked flowmaster, ive always run hooker long tubes and mufflers! NOTHING sounds better on a 5.3L truck!
 
ive had hookers before.haha.but only headers.i never heard thier mufflers before.i believe the flowmasters are aluminized steel.so they will take a while to rust out.someone said they were regular steel up farther in the thread.the flowmasters standard mufflers are cheaper than magnaflow mufflers.a lot of people like the magnaflow for the stainless mufflers and pipes.im more worried about initial cost and my truck is no show truck so i went flowmaster.it was 100 bucks cheaper and i like the sound they make.

Jegs prices are the same for Flowmaster 40's steel and Magnaflow stainless : $ 69.99 each.
 
I have a single 3 inch magnaflow on my suburban and love it. Not annoying like flowmasters with that drone, Got with shipping to my house for under $65 off ebay. Like others said, nice rumble at idle, loud when on it but not loud while cruising 4000 rpm's down the highway.
 
flowtech longtube headers, 2 1/2 from collectors back (one side was done and money was tight so went same route for duals) w/flowmaster 40's...sounds like an old school truck should sound...sets off car alarms in parkin lots too...
 
I run dual 2.5 Flowmaster 50's on my 383. I like them, they aren't too loud at idle and easy cruise, but full throttle they have a pretty good roar.
 
I run hooker comp headers, and two cherry bomb extreme single chambers. I wont lie, they are pretty loud :D
 
Well i got flowtech long tubes coming with 3" collectors. Going to run 3" piping all the way to the back with a H pipe.. Still undecieded on mufflers!

yeah that was awhile ago though when i bought mine.i didnt look up new prices.its good to see they have come down quite a bit.i was actually thinking about going back to glass packs.but id probably get a ticket for the noise.that is if i ever get it back legal again.haha
 
No H pipe here, Where is there room for one? I'd like to have one but it seems pretty tight under there.
 
I have headers and a single 3" with a 50 series dumped down just past axle...have to admit, she sounds pretty good. 350tbi..and im past the loud exhaust thing.
