New griffin radiator and fan combo

got to figure out a nice clean way to mount my griffin rad I got for my 2wd ls 5.3 swap build I got going .

I ordered it for the 73-87 truck with swaped in ls engine . and both rad hoses on pass side and tranny cooler on left .

Good to know. This thing never sees off road. It is a lowered 78 2wd blazer. I use it for my DD and am going to be seeing heat above 115 this summer. That coupled with traffic caused me to do this.
If I can find another port and if it doesn't make my wiring too ugly, I was going to run another sender so one fan comes on at one temp and the other at a higher temp.
Or I'll just hook one fan to the sender and make the other manual. I left enough wire to do both depending on what I decide.

some aftermarket controlers can do 2 fans with different temps or 1 for engine and second for a/c demand .

do some digging around on summit for there units listed from different brands . lots of them have pdf files of the directions on the site in the specific part you click on . makes it great for easy works to figure out what you want .

Before really going at the wiring, since you have a new radiator and I assume they are good fans, see if you need to do anything different first when you get in the heat. If it's ok the way it is for you, I don't see a reason to change, just if there is a problem.

FWIW the ~1988 TPI Camaro's used a 240* secondary fan switch, so if you can get by with one fan under all conditions, and one as emergency, that would work. I don't trust myself to notice if things start to go wrong even if I'm in the truck, let alone walk away with it idling while I go do something else. I've started to do that (I programmed the fans wrong in the PROM) and the only reason I noticed it was getting hot was because I heard the idle change. Whoops.

I'm no AC guru, but as I understand it, if you have AC, you'll need/want both fans on when the AC is on, which adds a bit more complexity to the wiring, but wouldn't be too bad. If I had AC, I think I'd want it as cold as possible, especially at 115*!

x2 on the any fan hot all time or on a switch . way to many people for get to turn it on . and I know a guy who just wired his key hot all the time . . . it took forever for it to warm up :doah:

Hey I have a Griffin Radiator in my s-10... and they gave me 5 bad one's with the same problem a blockage at the trans-cooler inlet. I don't trust there products at all !!:eek1::dunno::confused:

So I have an update. I bought my combo from summit. When I installed it it was leaking just a bit. I called summit and told them to make a note that it was leaking as I didn't have time to fix it then.
Well, I called them and they just shipped me out a new one to replace my leaky one. I'll be doing that tomorrow and shipping the old one back. I am pleased with how summit handled it.
On a side note, while poking around I also noticed my trans cooler has broken the brackets. Apparent I did not put enough rubber isolators in. So I ordered up a bigger one from Summit. I ordered an Earl's 34 row one with a mounting kit. I'll be installing that as well.

I also found a sick 383TPI I will be installing in the next few months as well.
