New here, is this a good buy?

Hey,like i said im new to this site and looking for an old suburban to drive and kind of restore and take out on the trails. Well i found a 82 suburban diesel that i may be interested in and was just wondering if this seems like a good buy for what i wanna do.

This is what i know:
82 6.2 deisel with 50000 miles on new motor and trans.
The motor has a turbo setup on it, he said its not banks but the previous owner built the motor so hes not sure what it is.
He said it needs new glow plugs cause it starts hard but he said it runs pretty good he said he drives it to work and around town.
It has a 3 inch turbo back exhaust.
He said its got a little rust but its not a rust bucket.
It has power windows and rear air.

Now my plans are some 37-38 inch tires on about 6 inches of lift. I want it to be good off road but still streetable enough to tow a couple quads up north to go riding. Im thinkin maybe the 37 inch hummer tires due to cost.

Anyway will this be a good buy for around 15-1700 bucks? Ive been lookin around for a while at different things from k5s to pick ups but i think im leanin towards a suburban. Pretty much alll the other things ive looked at have either sold or there not what i really want.

Well you have to decide if it's clean enough for you but if it runs good and has a turbo I say it's worth up to 1700 even with some rust.
I sold my good running sub with turbo for $2000 and the guy had a smile from ear to ear.
I am selling my turbo now for $700, they usually go between $500 and $1000 depending on condition.
So I say go for it.

I agree. I paid 2K for mine without a turbo and it needed a little attention to make it run. If this is running with a fairly rust free body and a turbo, go for it.
