New life for an old GI

Stuck a deal with Mitchell on gambler 500 rig. 1984 Chevy M1028. 6.2L, TH400, NP208, D60 possi, 14FF Detroit for now. 6.5L turbo, NV4500 will be rounded up for a future install. I have a few parts from my old Blue K20 like 2" lift and manual glow plug setup as well. Likely end up with 35-37" this with minimal lift to keep it a working truck.

Nice.

All these years later clean CUCV’s still turn the knife about Big Ugly.

Spent some time working on this one yesterday. Removed the rack and knee knocker hitch, installed the aftermarket seat, and installed a tailgate. I also managed to free up the pintle hitch.

Everything was fighting me, the seat brackets didn't quite line up, the tailgate opening was too narrow and the blind nuts were broken loose in the hardware. Had to break out the BFH for both.

Spent some time this weekend getting the heater functional. Replaced the blower motor with new and the fan switch with a used one. I also ordered a motor resistor that arrives today (but it works on high for now.

I then turned my attention to the gauge cluster, I could not see the speedometer during the daylight dueto the dirt and haze. So it was completely disassembled, cleaned and the clear lens polished. It was too cold to spray paint the housing chrome, but it was still a huge improvement.
