A couple of things knocked off this list today. XJ steering shaft and a tilt column installed.

I've been neglecting this one for a minute so back to work and finishing the mall crawler mods on my fancy 10 bolt.
Yesterday, I went out to trim and torque the axle u-bolts/ studs.

Taking these wheels off took a lot of effort with a dead blow hammer due to 70 layers of paint and the powder coating in the wheel. So i stripped out down to nearly bare steel hubs, painted lightly with a black primer, and lightly removed the powder coat and now they slide right on and off again.

I'm working on the winch mount and tow bar clevis. The clevis is a simple project. I bought several tow bars missing the clevis so I need to buy or make new ones.
I bought the Engineered Vintage winch mount but I think I would prefer something other than mounting the winch upside down and inaccessible or bashing it on a rock exposed so I started a mock up for what I have in my head. I will just need to build something from scratch and sell this kit.

I went ahead and mocked up the Engineered Vintage kit but did not remove any rivets. It has long enough slots for the mockup work without going that far. I wanted to see it before deciding if I need to go a completely different direction. I don't see any good way of protecting the winch like this as much as I like the idea and quality of this kit.
After that I grabbed some scrap aluminum and started looking at what it would take to run a skid plate from the 4 bumper bolts back to the 4 sway bar mounts. I can get 8" easily, maybe a bit more, of vertical space between the skid plate and the bottom of the core support and still be above the front spring mount.
That should give me enough room for the winch and even the release lever. I will just need to come up with a way to operate the release lever as it will be buried.
This is why I I went with the CFM fab winch mount, it mounts below the rad support but doesn’t hang the winch upside down and basically cradles it
I like his winch cradle also.
That is similar to what I plan to build but I am keeping the stock bumper, brush guard, CUCV clevis mounts.
No matter how I try to set it up, everything that mounts the winch behind the bumper just didn't look good to me for functionality or access to the spool lever. So this is what I'm thinking at the moment. Grab a HF winch plate and graft it into the brush guard. I will need to cut out the center of the bumper as well and fill in with some structure while I'm at it as well.
I think that looks like a good way to go.
Tonight didn't have many photo ops, but I was able to fill and bleed the hydroboost system, fill the transmission, and install the new alternator to replace the one I borrowed for the M1009. I plan to power bleed the brakes in the morning and it will be drivable again for the first time in over a year. However, there is still a list before it is done.
Bleed brakes
Change engine oil
Recheck rear pinion angle and final torque rear ubolts
Install and torque rear lug nuts
Order new front driveshaft and install
