I'm pretty much a Ford (7.3 Powerstroke Diesel) truck man (I do own a Corvette) but I just have a weak spot for the 1st generation Blazers. I've wanted one and I remember when they first came out(Yea, I'm kind of an old man!:D)

So anyway I look forward to getting into this build as time allows and hoping to get lots of advice/critique from the members here.

My neighbor moved here from Alabama (bless his heart) and dragged this diamond in the rough with him along with some spare parts he got from Colorado.(real good top, back hatch, tailgate, doors, cowl, instument cluster and a few more goodies.

Here it is as it sits.

Thanks! I was beginning to think "Ford" was a dirty word around here?:eek1:
Been lurking, but without being able to look at the attachments it's just not the same. Besides, $25.00 won't buy much else in this Obama economy so now I'm a member.:waytogo:

For some it might be, but for most here you'll be welcomed...we all have our problems, right? :D

You'll be especially welcomed since you posted pics first! We love 'em pics.

What kind of plans do you have for it?

You know, over the years I have owned every brand of American made truck(s). Every one has it's good points and bad points but for me, the most reliable have been the Ford(s).

I'm kinda torn right now about the plans. I have a Jeep rock crawler That I rarely use any more. It has a high pinion(Ford) Dana 60 king pin front axle, Dana 60 rear, 1992 TPI Chevy motor, SM465, Atlas TC and lots of other goodies that would transplant nicely in the K5.
Then again, maybe make a nice driver out of it, little bit of lift, freshen the motor(350) and put some 35's on it?
I suppose I 'll have time to decide?

OH, and here's my Chevrolet toy....'06 Z06 + the wife drives her '08 Tahoe too, so I'm not anti-Chevy in ANY way!:waytogo:

Hehehhehehehe New Blood:sign29: And I mean that literally. Fingers, knuckles, arms, WALLET!

WELCOME!

Ha, Ha, I'm with you there brother, but ain't nothin can be as knuckle-bustin' as putting up-pipes on a 7.3 diesel :mad1:......!
I have become intimate with this motor!:eek1:

Welcome aboard. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

Always good to see another first gen being saved! Welcome to the looney bin!

OK, still in the prepping mode before I tear into this project. My current compressor is old and tired. It spit a piece of something into the check valve this week and it has decided that it no longer wants to compress air.
It was just a 15hp 3 phase with a 120 gallon receiver. OK for running my machine shop but just not enough to keep up with my 300lb sandblaster.

So I decided to just bite the bullet and replace it with something a bit larger.

I actually had bought this one last year as a replacement/upgrade but I was struggling to find time to install it. Had the support pad poured and ready. So yesterday, fate decided it was time.

Ingersoll-Rand UP6-25 Total Air Package, 25hp rotary screw compressor,120 gallon receiver and refrigerated dryer all in one neat little package. This thing is super smooth and quiet.

I'm gonna leave the body on the frame to do the structural repair.
I can do the structural stuff then it's probably gonna go to the body shop for the cosmetic part.

Is a single brace in the upper door opening enough to remove all the rocker stuff when the top comes off?
How about bracing acoss side to side?

Nice Blazer

I'm in the same boat, just starting off. I've also owned several other brands but have always loved the early blazers / Jimmys. Good luck with the project.

Had a few honey "dues" today...gotta keep mama happy so I can buy Blazer stuff!
I did get the chassis moved out from in front of the barn. Weather cleared nicely...saw a butterfly....dam I hope that means winter is OVER!

ALSO......I'll be willing to sell some 4speed stuff if anyone is interested....probably the TC will be all I will keep.

Next order of business....build a mezzanine in the back of the barn to sit some goodies until needed!
Hang on this may take awhile!
