Unlimited workspace, high ceilings and a 2-post lift?

You have just been placed on my "I hate you" list.

OK progress has been slow during all the crappy weather over the winter but I have managed to work on some stuff.

One major planned project has been to rebuild the 205 transfer case. When I disassembled it I found major issues due to it sitting for so long and several parts will have to be replaced to repair it.

Since this is going to be a driver......I've decided to use a NP241C transfer case.
From what I have found out, they are available with passenger side drop and will bolt up to the 4L60E with the correct adapter.

What I was trying to determine; since the trans I have is from a 2WD, will it work by just replacing the existing 2WD tailshaft housing with a TC adapter or will I need to change the output shaft on the trans to make it mate to the 241......?

Anyone familiar with this combination? I'm about ready to start the transplant of the drive train but I need to get this resolved so I can fit it into the frame as an assembly. I don't want to start looking/buying until I'm sure exactly what I need.

The output shaft will need to be replaced with a 4wd version in order to work with a 241. The drivers drop 241 is clocked slightly different (at least from what I remember so fwiw) than a passenger drop 241 so it may require a clocking ring to be used along with the factory adapter. It's not a big deal though since the adapter is around 70 bucks and the clocking ring is 60ish shipped.

You could also use the tall 700r4-208 adapter along with the Advance adapter 4bolt to 6 bolt adapter which would allow you to reuse the factory crossmember.

Make sure you figure out where you are going to mount the speed sensor before you buy parts.

OK........found a NP241C from a 1990 suburban......passenger side drop
$325.00 shipped from South Dakota........ new bearings and seals on the way.....
