Became a member early today as I had a few questions and where else but the best forum.
My son just bought a used 1985 chev blazer with a 350 an 4 sp auto. Being that we live in ct. and must go through inspection a problen now arises. The preveious owner pluged the exhaust and took off pump9 i believe there was 1) ect. ect. Anotherwards, what now is the best way to get this throgh emissions testing???????? not even sure what parts are missing but does run. This we believe was the reason for his selling vechial.
Thanks
Eddy

what exactly do you mean by "plugged the exhaust"? Have any pictures or...?

if it runs pretty well, you might just take it to the emmissions test and see how it goes... you might pass. Does Ct have a visual inspection? Here in WA if you pass the sniffer they don't care what you have under the hood..

plugged

i believe they plugged holes in the exhaust manifols

sounds like they disconnected the A.I.R system... ie: smog pump and lines...

shouldn't be too hard to get one back in... boneyard should have that stuff.. new pumps run around $50 iirc....

I agree with jekbrown - I have a POS section of pipe welded in to help my Y pipe clear the front axle. No way it would pass a visual, but we don't have one so I have no problems getting it inspected. In many areas, as long as the sniffer says ok, you're fine.
