Hrmmm, well, maybe they had to replace the sender or something and did something stupid.

Could easily see a shade tree mechanic or a shady shop doing a "whoopsie", figuring out it doesn't leak, and then tossing the skid back on. Who's the wiser?

I snapped a pic of the fuel tank with the hairline crack and the Optional equipment sticker in the glove box... On the tank you can see where i put a temporary repair that didnt hold very long and in the center a hairline crack on that ridge... I snapped a pic of the Optional Equipment sticker also since it shows the skid plate as a factory option, and the fact that this truck was seriously loaded from the factory... Just seemed like something neat to see...

there is a better repair kit that use a putty first to hold the crack shut, then it has fibers mesh and resin that you apply on top and let set.
I repaired a few spots on my tanks before and after 7 years they still hold up fine.
I got it from Kragen at the time, but I know Oreily now has it so does Autozone.
On another note how do you like your ATRIX? I am thinking about getting one.

Yeah, I tried the resin and mesh stuff and it fell off after the first drive... I sanded it all off, cleaned it down with acetone, applied it again and the same, fell of after the first drive??? I then tried JB Weld and a few other 2 part epoxy's and none would hold... I think its because they could not get a grip on the crack to harden and create a "key" inside the tank... I though about enlarging the hole so the patch could get inside but after all the failed attempts, and wasting fuel I drained the tank, parked the Blazer and ordered a tank... Not sure why it wouldn't hold??? The Atrix, is a really good phone, I have no major issues or complaints...

Another update... Fuel tank and sending unit are working perfectly... However, drove it to our friends house for a New Years party last night and noticed a little vibration driving down the road... Went out this morning and checked, and both rear drive shaft U joints are shot... Guess I'll fix that tomorrow after work, Im chillin today, waiting on the collards and black eyed peas to get done...
