New Q-jet Hard To Start -- Update From SMI

Nothing about it drying up but I didn't ask either. He did mention using additives to combat todays crappy fuel so I suspect that may have been the real culprit.

Is anybody using an additive for a vehicle that sits for a couple/three weeks at a time? SMI offers an additive @ $10 per bottle per every other fill up, I'd like to find something I can get local.

Should not have been stuck like that so quick. Makes me question quality of parts.

I've never had a stuck needle.

Sometimes people leave the clip off the needle to help with drain back and float can't pull the needle up after sitting. (Trivia)

Hate to be a downer but that's how I see it.
Interested and hope it was just a fluke.

most stuck needles I have ever seen are by an improperly hung needle from the previous "rebuilder"......

not the case here I'm guessing, but a super common prob I've found over the yr's is guys putting the hangar into one of the 2 holes in the float arm.. THAT IS INCORRECT... it is meant to sit on the flat surface... it may work for a bit, but eventually the needle hangs up...

Interesting tech and trivia guys - Thanks! Whether it was assembly error or parts quality I'm hoping they went that extra step to make it right this time. Time will tell.

I am still betting that the needle got stuck due to UPS. I know how stuff gets handled in shipping in order to meet the speed quota. Not to mention if it happened to ride upside down in the truck to get there! All in all, I say good news for you! And good to know SMI is taking care of you.
