New quad

Daughter and I got the head and cylinder off. Everything looks great inside. Lots of cross hatching on the cylinders. Rings spin freely. No up and down movement from the connecting rod bearing. The spark plug hole is definitely stripped but the helicoil arrives today. Oil was clean. Someone must have adjusted the valves and did a poor job because at TDC you can see light through the intake valve and there is zero slack on the rocker. No PTV marks though. Got a new coil and plug wire on the way. Going to order up a gasket kit for it and throw it back together next week. It’s got a blue aftermarket oiled air filter that looks brand new. Gonna leave that for now. Contemplating a new exhaust just because. There are zero performance mods out there for this bike except a big foam filter. Most exhausts are just slip on’s which really is fine for this. I’m excited to get this thing running!

Tyler, that's cool.
your kids are going to be "I got the coolest dad around" :pimp1:

Haha we’ll see. Kids seem to enjoy it and I know my dad and I enjoyed it. Plus these things are way easier and cheaper to tinker on than the blazer. Need some short term projects to keep me sane while I work on the long term one.

I too am in the process of a tiny rebuild. It's great fun and like you said a good distraction from stuff you think you should be doing

I picked up a PW50 a few months ago for my son but he’s still a little young and the exhaust is to much for him.

Give him a couple of years, he'll be all in. He'll be bored of taking the BMX bike off the "sweet jumps" haha

Well the fuel shut off was leaking as fast as I poured gas in but enough got into the carb to let me fire it and it cranked first try and idled for a second or two. Got one of those on the way. Pressure washed it to clean it up and glad I did because I found a big crack in the swing arm. Nothing the welder can’t take care of.

A little birdy said someone got to ride her quad, video required, complete with smiles and giggles

Who knows. Going to try and play with it this afternoon. The guy said if it didn’t get run every day he’d have to pull the carb off of it and clean it. Also said that it would only start if the battery had a full 12v. I suspect a good tune up and rebuilt carb is in order. The stators are also known for getting weak so that may be a culprit but we’ll see.

That one looks like the Eton one I have. Is it the 50cc or 90cc? Mine had a million hours on it and I finally rebuilt it last year. Same thing on my carb, needs cleaned a lot and I've replaced it a few times. Had to convert mine to premixed gas due to the oil tank breaking this spring. I had an open element filter on mine but it was too much air so I switched back to the factory air box. They are great bikes and very well made compared to the garbage Chinese stuff.
At one point my stator had issues but I pulled it apart and cleaned all the mud and dirt out of it and it actually went back to working.
