New Ride! 78 GMC. *The build thread that never was?*

Even though it is running bad/weired, It will still smoke the tires! Or tire as the peg legged case may be.

Well its running better but im not sure why. Just runs good again. Im guessing something was in the carb and it finally sucked it threw. Dunno. Anyway i found my camera! Under the bed of all places... So should have some "updated" shots this weekend. Also should be gettin its "new" wheels and tires next weekend so im really lookin forward to that!

Well i made the treck up to the cabin and swapped the rims out for the ones on the 90. Looks pretty good i think! Ultimatly the wheels will go back on the 90 and i will get something else for th pickup. But for at least the next couple years this is how it will work. Some pics? Just a rough timeline of the weekend.

So yea, not "new shoes" but different. The 90 is in a semi retired state at the moment so it wont be missing them for a while. And dont let the latest pic of the truck fool you intothinking it has perfect paint cause it doesnt. Just that fender was replaced and re painted by the PO.

Those wheels look a lot better on the older style truck than they did on your '90. Combined with the brush guard, it makes for a "timeless" look:D

Is there a bunch of screws holding some of the bed trim on?

For whatever reason your truck is quite photogenic. You keep telling us it's not really that good looking, but the pic's say different! I dunno if it's possible for a truck to be photogenic, but if so your's definitely is!

New shoes look good! :waytogo:

Not color blind or anything. Just wondering if any one knows what the official GM name is for my paint and interior setup?

Awesome ride !! please ,please please keep it clean like that dont cut it up those trucks look so badass "Stockish"

RPO codes straight from my glove box

68L 68 russet metallic (and probably frost white)
ZY4 deluxe two tone pa
64Y NUU1 buckskin knit v

Thanks! and as far as keeping it clean and stockish, thats the plan. So dont worry. Plan is to drop in a 5.3l or 6.0l, Add A/C, do some body work, re-paint(original colors), kinda restore it a bit, some sound proofing in the cab, decent stereo, and MAYBE a 2.5" lift.

awesome!! :bow::bow::bow:

LOL well your welcome! Plan is to make it a presentable, classic, DD. Might take it out to the dunes or the mountain every once in a great while and camping for sure, but mostly it will be a street queen.

Thats kinda what my brown truck is for , Bodys all stock original two tone But i do have Big tires and Bad ass drivetrain so I can cruise around the dunes in style!

I'd go for a 4 inch lift, trim the fenders (nicely), line x your rocker panels and run the line x around and into the wheel wells (to cover the exposed sheet metal edges), through on some 37's, black wheels, tube bumpers and drop a big block in the b!tch and say goodbye to gas mileage and hello to sexified.

That's just what I'd like to do. But I dig your plans as well. I love the stock body look. And I don't care what you say that truck is tits. I think you just don't want us getting to jealous of your stellar buy. :haha:

no way dont even think about cutting those fenders!! LOL why mes with perfection? On a ratty old wheeling rig sure brake out the Sawzall ( actually I prefer my milwaukee power shears ) but man this truck is too nice it needs to be done up nice "poser" style if you will

I really like the Idea of the LS motor and O/D trans would make it much more D/D freindly!
