Man! Two nice trucks for good prices...especially cheep "I think" for the 4x4. Never find anything like that around here.
I still miss your old red and white blazer you sold a couple years ago.

Oregon has a thing for those old beasts. Wish there were ones that cheap down here.

Speaking of change in the air, I finally picked up a set of tbi exhaust manifolds off a 90 suburban. So soon I'll swap those in place of the current headers and get some quieter mufflers too. I'm thinking of getting one of the lmc truck exhaust kits. They are made by heartthrob exhaust and have pretty good reviews. And they are pretty cheap. The kit without mufflers goes for $165. And I have a specific set of mufflers in mind so I think I'll do that.

What happened to the "change in the air?" This thread has been dead ever since you mentioned that... :dunno:

Are you any closer to doing the gearing swap or the bed swap or the exhaust upgrade?

I used the dynomax kit, can't complain for the price. 2.25" with tail pipes dumping at 90 degrees behind back tires.

Not really. With the house and my wife's birthday, it's been one thing or another. I have a tough time convincing her or myself that taking time and money to work on trucks is a good idea. For example, my main project now is to remove the faux stone on the fire place and hope that the brick underneath is pretty. If it's not, I get to frame over it and sheet rock it to make it go away. Not the fire place itself, but the mantle or whatever. So justifying time for anything other than that is tough to do. I think after that project is done I'll take a quick break from the house and work on the 78. In addition to all the house stuff, my wife and I like to go ride the quads. So on the rare free day on the weekend, it's hard to not go do that! In addition to that, I work an insane amount of overtime. Ok maybe not that insane, but usually about 24 ours a week of overtime. Which usually consists of both days on the weekend.

So it's just been tough to find the time. I want to just bring it in the garage and leave it there until it's finished so I can work on it a couple hours at a time, but, we are going to be buying new cabinets for the kitchen here toward the end of April and I figure I'll have to store them in the garage. Once I get the cabinets, all hell will break loose in the house. A full kitchen remodel, done single handedly by me, along with new hardwood floors throughout the house will mean that a vast majority of the summer will be taken up by house project stuff.

The only "good news" is that may-August I won't be working any weekends so that I can get as much work and play as possible through the summer.

So to answer your question, no. I am not any closer on any of the 78 stuff. My whole big plan is to have ALL of the house stuff done by the time my birthday rolls around in late September so that I can start to justify to both my wife and myself that it is now time for me to celebrate not only my birthday by buying a bunch of stuff for the truck, but to celebrate all the hard work I have done to the house over the summer and that the winter should therefore be mitchy time. At least, that's the plan. Should work out I think. :dunno:

Sounds like a good plan. You going to be putting up pictures as you go?

With the truck stuff or house stuff? lol i will of course be putting up truck pics as i go!

If it makes you feel any better, I woke up a little late this morning so i went down in the garage and wire wheeled my manifolds and bolts and got the y pipe prepped for surgery.

^^Whats wrong with that? My wife would love it if ours looked like that. Although, I might have to figure out how to stain the rock a little different color.

Thats what i was thinking.

Spray it dark, and move on to the next project for a while.

The main thing is its just outdated. Also, it's faux stone. So something a little more modern but timeless will be an upgrade.

aah.. Fake stone might not fly so well, but it looks pretty good in the picture:waytogo:.
