New ride...'85 K30

looks good! what are your plans for it?

Nice score. I like the black and charcoal crew cab in the background, too.

Plans, mostly for work around the house, hauling and stuff.
I hauled 44,720 lbs of sand and soil this week in my '01 HD.
Got some new scratches in the nice paint for it too, so the '85 will take over those duties.
I also have a real nice snowplow from my last truck to put on it in case it snows.

I'm also thinking some meatier tires and about a 4" lift.
Can't do much until I get my old '85 blue truck sold.

you bought it sight unseen without even talking the owner first???? you are a braver person than i, hope everything goes smoothly for ya, looks like a very clean truck.

Looks pretty good Bruce. I thought the Cab and Chassis trucks got a D70 in the rear sometimes...but I've never heard of them getting a D80. Have you had a chance to check it out in person yet?

Auction says it has a D80 rearend?
I bet its a typo.

I checked the pics for a rearend shot but nothing. Unless its the narrow 14FF, its gotta be the D70HD.

Thanks for the compliments....And thanks tRusty for some good questions to ask the seller.

I did take a little leap of faith buying unseen.
I did have a few emails back and forth before bidding.
I also downloaded all the pics and used some photo software to brighten and enlarge them. It help alot with details...
The rear end looks like a 14BFF, maybe a D70, not sure. I could pick out the overload springs in the wheel wells, so who knows.

Okay, finally got the new rig home...about 28 minutes ago.
I haven't looked it over real good yet, but the rear looks like a 14bff. However, I've never seen a D70, so not sure how to tell them apart.
Anybody?

The big surprise was it has a pto off the NP205 hooked to a hydraulic pump and complete with tank, filter, and lines to the rear for quick-disconnect.

Not sure what to do with that yet, maybe hydro winch someday or a dump bed.

The engine bay looks even better in person, very clean, all looks bone stock and well maintained.

At about 70-75mph I get a shimmy, I'm thinking the D60 is a little worn.

Take a look at the diff cover. If it looks identical to the D60 front, with a fill plug in it, its a D70HD. If the cover is smooth with no fill plug, its the 14FF.
