I've searched the interior section. All the posts with what I'm lookin for have little red Xs for pics or pics deleted by photobucket...
I've at least put in the effort.

I'm lookin to see if anyone has installed the 01 and later FS truck seats into their K5 or similar truck. Specifically looking for how they mounted them, how they fit, bolted to the floor or custom mounts, seat height compared to the factory buckets...

I picked up a set of 02 Silverado 40/20/40 split seats for $200 for the set. All 3 have the integrated seat belts and the center is a seat or console when folded down. After some measuring it looks like they will fit width wise (maybe a bit tight) but my concern is the height. They seem to sit about an inch or so lower than the factory buckets, wondering if anyone has had any negative experience from this. My seat set is manual with no height adjustment.

Lookin for pics, mainly of open door, side view, showing the seats and brackets to the floor. If nothing comes up, I will start my own thread and document and pic as I go.

I put some out of a 1999 or 2000 crew cab in my K5. I think they would be the same seats. I did not, however, have the center seat. I think there would have been a console between mine, but I think the seats would still work. I bolted mine directly to the floor. I used one of the original front bolt holes and just redrilled the rest with a big washer under the floor. They sit awesome and have the added benefit of being able to enter the back seat from either side since the seats slide ahead so far. They also go back far enough that I can barely reach the pedals. Since I didn't have a console, I went to Wal Mart and bought a $20 Coleman cooler and mounted it between the seats for a dual purpose console.

They do sit a tad lower than the factory seats, but not enough to be annoying unless you're short anyway.

I'll snap some pics for you soon.

Pics as promised.

I bolted the seats down by the original outside front bolt on each side and drilled the rest.

Here's my cooler/console. While I was at Wal Mart, I picked up some big plastic cups and screwed them to the floor for cup holders. Necessity is, after all, the mother of invention.

Cooler center console... screw in cupholders.... all I can say is... Git R' Done :-)

Poke fun all you want, if you knew me, you would know that I'm all about function over form. Cheap doesn't hurt either. I will say that I do not and will not carry beer in that cooler or the cup holders............ever. Not that I'm against a beer or two now and then, just not in my rig.

Those look awfully low. How does the height feel when you're sitting in them?

They aren't that much lower than factory seats as I stated before. The only time I really noticed them being low was in the rocks and steep stuff where the ground disappeared over the hood sooner. If you were to use a 1" or so spacer, I would think that'd be plenty.

I am putting a 40/20/40 set out of an 05 chevy in ym 88 jimmy. i got them set in tonight and they seem to fit ok tomorrow i will get them bolted in. none of the factory holes line up but that shouldnt be a problem. i sat in them and they feel great. not too low. they are a huge improvement the the stock blazer seat.

Cool. Thanx for the pics. I suppose, worst case, I have to shim them up a bit. I'm 6'1" so it may not even be an issue.

I can agree with your function over form, I just think I like a bit more form with my function.:D

FMS and I have heard a common saying here "poor people have poor ways". Describes alot of things about our truck builds. Still we beat them like rented mules and they keep on ticking.

Well i just finished my 40/20/40 seat install. I didnt shim them at all and they fit great. i am 6'2 and with them all the way back i can just get the clutch in all the way. I will post pics up as soon as my camera charges.

my 18 month old daughter hid my camera charger. so i will snap a few with my phone in the morning for you guys. sorry to make you wait

Still waiting...

I plan on doing this to mine as well, but I got seats from a 08 Chevy. They look great in my living room! As soon as I get my transmission issue squared away I will get my cancer spots under the seats stitched up and the new seats put in with plenty of pics for you jackals.

I put 2000 model seats in my '86 K10. Entirely different due to the saddle gas tank humps in the pickups so not much help to you, but may be to someone else.

The seats are honestly a bit tall in a pickup. I even removed the sliders to lose some height, it works fine but its still a bit taller than I'd like (that said, I fit under the steering wheel fine and I don't bump my head or anything).

My seat adapter/interior roll bar ended up rediculously complicated, but it works pretty well. It catches most of the original seat holes plus 8 studs welded to the back rail and the two B pillar seat belt holes.

The weird loop in the center goes in between the gas tank humps to keep it as low as possible.

WOW! Great job with the cage and seat mounts in the K10! I can see how they sit a bit high for you with that floor.

You build that cage yourself? Damn fine job on that. What did you use for a tube bender?

here are the pics. they arent the greatest but its snowing pretty hard here.
