I've had my KRL1001 for about 9 years now, I just added a locker and a stainless top to it this year. I've got a mini fridge in the locker.

did you bolt the locker just onto your bottom box since you don't have a top box?
lockers have 3 or 4 tabs dependent on size . these tabs are on both sides. thay hang off the lip on the bottom box were the top bolts to. then the locker bolts to the side of the bottom were the handle would be. keeps all of it locked in place just fine.
and with the tabs on both sides and the fact the door is flipable to left or right you can pic the side you want it on.

I dunno yet, I tried to put the Craftsman top box in one of my service truck compartments but it was too big. I might sell it. Haven't decided yet.
