new snap-on tool box build up .... version o.75% build up has begun

Looks good. Always a PITA to organize and store hardware that you know you will need to get you out of a tight spot some day. I have a whole box in my bottom drawer I need to sort out.

ya its a pita to do it if you have been a open box n toss guy .

but i was semi organized and it helped do it faster .

Unfortunately my shop supplies the boxes I use, so this limits my options. I also need it to be locked up so nobody helps themselves. I like your box arangement, and what you have done for organization so far.

Yep, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Snap On box with all my Akro bin storage for my hardware. People think I'm crazy for having such an expensive box just for hardware. I may be, but thats the way I like it :D.

Big day today :woot:

made my last loan payment early . she is all mine free and clear .

extra $230.00 in my pocket every month now for the few truck projects I need to finish . :thumb:

We just started getting those electronic boxes that you scan in and out of. And they track what you take.

first year yes snap-on . then paid off with a use of a home equity loan for lower payments and intrest rate .

snap-on has had those boxes for a long time . but most places cant see the $$$ to get th option installed . I always wanted one so I wouldn't have to use a key all the time. :pimp:

All our tools are company supplied. They decided that they want to track the tools. So scanning it is. But at $22,000 per box. Empty! it's gonna be a big bill LoL.

how many guys?

that's gotta be millions if you factor in hand tools... my box and everything in it are about 60 g's.... and I don't own a single 3/4 drive tool other than an adapter or 2 for my kingpin allen socket and such... :haha:

that's why I didn't get into heavy equipment repair.. when I was restoring cement mixers, dozers, etc, I used to see the tool bill of our heavy equipment guy from the snappie truck..

:eek1: :eek1: :eek1: :eek1:

all that big sh*t adds up super fast.... giant wrenches, 3/4 & 1" drive, torque multipliers, etc...

That's just a drop in the bucket around here. Litterally. They spent $60 million on break-in welding for just one shovel last year. We have aprox 15 cable shovels. The costs that swirl around this place would make your brain tweek.

You should see aerospace spending. Going to be vague in my discription but, I've installed a "unit" about the size of a diesel truck tire & wheel onto THE main unit. That unit installed, about $50 mil. Scale would be like installing a battery in a big crew cab lifted truck. It's a SUPER important item, but as compared to other items there are sooo many more expensive items it takes to build just one complete unit.

Be careful. If yours are set up like our trial boxes they are easy to defeat. Weighted switches for small stuff is easy to figure out, but with the RFID embedded tools you can often hold tool in from of the drawer and the computer will see it as being inside the box. The next person who scans the box open will shown as the who took out the tool. Of course this only matters if you share a box.

The funny part is we were not even trying to be malicious, we just pissed that we had to use company tools:haha:

These ones take a picture of the drawer. Every time it opens or closes. And uses picture recognition of some sort.

Yeah, heavy equipment mechanics have a rediculous amount of tools. I just emptied my KW Friday. There was a lot. I'll expand in another thread.

Oh yeah, congrats on the pay off!

Nice tool box. I was considering getting a Snap On box that is heavily discounted either on craigslist or through one of the local pawn shops.

I am curious though as to what makes a Snap On or other super premium brand tool box worth dishing out the cash over a Craftsman or other value branded varient?

I've noticed the Classic 60 model selling used for under $1000 and the Classic 78 for under $1500 every once in a while, which is close to the price of a comparably sized new Craftsman.
