New soft top maker

I want pictures and a honest opinion of your thoughts, soon:D

Pretty much yeah, this has been a dream of mine since day 1 of ownership.

I emailed them about "continued" availability but have not heard back. Does anyone know if this is a limited run of 2nd gen tops or a more permanent solution?

Tracking says that it won't be here until Monday, Oct. 12 so it will be another week before I get it installed.

Sloth,

You mentioned an optional header bar (5 holes instead of 17). I did not see that on the website. Please explain what that cost and how you knew to order it.

Also, as soon as you get it on your truck I would love to hear your opinion.

I didn't want to drill a thousand holes in my windshield frame so I called to make sure that there wasn't going to be a snapless version 2 released anytime soon that I should wait for.

The guy I talked to was named Bob and he was very helpful and more than willing to answer any questions I had. Bob is the one that told me about the header bar when I mentioned that I wasn't thrilled about all of the holes. The header bar was $39 and was not on the website at the time that I ordered.

As for installing it, it has been too cold when I get home from work at night and they are predicting rain this weekend so I am not sure when I will get it installed.

Nice truck! Does the top fold and unfold easy and does it look nice folded down/open? Anymore pictures of the pickup in the second pic that looks nice to

Top looks very nice. Can't wait to get one myself. Have you had it up to highway speeds yet? And if so can you report it's handling of it? It's easy to read what a website will say but true field testing sometimes is best done by us the consumers.

Thanks! The sides and back window roll up and down easy, I haven't folded the whole thing back yet. I think it will with no problem.

The only thing that wasn't just right is the middle mounting point (of the side rails). The front and rear align with the factory top holes. But, the middle one doesn't. I'm going to rerivet their bracket on in the right spot and all is good.

I have taken it on the freeway for a few miles with the sides rolled up and down. I had the back window rolled up both times (I haven't put the velcro on the tailgate yet). No flapping, seems good and tight. My wife likes it as well. Actually, she pointed out that the plastic anchors for the straps probably won't last (on rear sides). Could always make a metal bracket.

So far, I'm happy with it. I don't have any experience with the older tops. This one seems to be thought out well.

Do you think maybe the ends were put on the wrong end of the rails? It looks like you could pull the plastic pices off and swap ends and then the holes might line up.

It's not the black brackets, they are fine. It's these middle of the rail brackets (see pic). The rails only go on one way and one is marked driver side. I haven't done anything with it yet. I will call them first. Even so it's a minor issue and easy to fix.

Didn't realize the rails were marked for a side. I thought you could take off the black brackets and then swap rails side to side and switch the ends then reinstall the balck brackets. It looked like doing that would line up the middle bracket and you wouldn't have to mod a new product and possibly void any warranty.

Great lookin' K5 though.:wink1:

Wow! Nice trucks. Looks like you and I have very similar taste. Your K5 is the color my truck used to be. Looks great with the top on, cool to see it on that truck, its like seeing exactly what it would look like on mine.

Sloth,

Did you ever get yours installed?

Just curious about your thoughts.

I got one.

Looking at the pics it seams like with a little work the soft top could be used to make a full vert out of a psot 75 k5. Those full vert windshield frames are getting hard to find. What do you think? Good idea or bad?
