Those only work on a two piece wheel, like the H1 double beadlocks.
The only option for your friend is something like the Staun beadlocks.
No Adam you just need the inserts on the beadlocked rim ( H1 ) you can run a 16.5 tire on any 16.5 rim.
Using the stock rim those tires come on ( 8 bolt 12 bolt or 32 bolt) you need an specific insert to match the width of the bead bundle on the tire

Oh i thought he was saying you can only run the tires with beadlocks. We dont need no beadlocks. We air down to about 12psi in the sand.

I was referring to the military tires. We run 8-12 on most of our stuff up there, didnt know how these tires though being so much stiffer would handle without bead lock rims.
The problem is the 16.5s don't have the safety bead so they pop beads at lower psi unlike standard sizes 15, 16, 17, 18 etc
And adam if what chris said is true about the load rating, these will have one hell of a stiff sidewall and will not balloon out in the sand. May not be the best choice.
Yah thats what i was thinkin. Guess i will get a chance to see if that scuba tank can set a bead sooner than i thouhgt lol. Hes pretty set on them and its worth a shot. Oh and kert has a write up on installing a safety bead on those wheels you speak of.
I actually went outside and got that info off of the sidewall, so it's correct.
I believe the Goodyear M/T's have a relatively high weight rating as well.

The Oz tires are rated 3700 and seem to bulge like any other radial, if that experience is relevant.

the older style goodyear radial is awesome in the sand.the newer bfg looks real good and has a more aggressive pattern.looks like a general grabber.the sidewalls look stiff as hell.even aired down,but they are tough as nails.the older goodyear is a allrigth road tire but has a thin sidewall and easier to puncture.not great in mud and not great on rocks.
I bought My 37 BFG Bajas at trailworthy fab as well. they are local. I bought them at 129 each and had them grooved.
In these pictures I was running 6.5-8 psi I cant remember the exact setting.
Edit ( I think this was at 12 psi before I went down to 8ish now that I think about it more) I am noticing a little more side wall flex as they break in.
I have run them as low as 6 and run them at 40 on the road.
On the road they ride very well, betting in fact than my old 35 pro comp Mud terrains.
there is not alot of sidewall flex. the blazer weighs in at 6300 and even at low psi only had moderate flex of the side wall.
Over all I like them very much.
