Ok obvestly this is my first post. I found this site about a month ago and joined it right away, as I was planning on getting a 84 GMC Jimmy (35in tires, 3" body lift, around 116,000, new transmission, completly new heads) with the 6.2L. Well after finally working a good deal to get it I not have it. First off I know its sposta be loud, I have always owned Diesels(mostly Fords), but is there a quiter exaust set up out there? Right now it is true duals out the back, with what looks like cheerbombs on there. Has anyone tryed using a HMMWV intake on these engines, not the actual intake manfold the part for the air cleaner, this way it can be routed up as a snorkal. The brakes I know there are hydo, but evey time I hit a puddle that is around mid tire the brake go out and the steer goes out. I know that both the system are using the PS for pressure but what would cause this to happen, got out and then take about 45sec to 1:30 to go back to normal? Last but not least who has a wiring dirgram and vacum digram for this truck? I have searched high and low but nothing seams to match up with this truck at all. The reason for the drigrams is one so I can install a radio with out blowing anything up, last owner tore the harness completly out to hack a new one in and ended up blowing out most the dash lights (which still half of them do not work even after replacing the bulbs). Then the vacum digrams are for the heater/AC secector and cruse control which do not work. Is there a way to test the vacum pump?

Thanks inadvance for any help you all can offer, o ya if I posted any of this in the wrong section please tell me, I posted here cuase it looks like most of out parts are specific to the diesel trucks.

First off welcome and good going with the membership before you start, I did the same thing and I haven't regretted joining so far.
The exhaust can be quieter, I have the turbo and the banks exhaust so I don't know other than stock what would be quiet enough.
The Van I had had the stock duals and it was quiet.
Maybe the 70 series flowmasters.
The brakes as you know work off the steering pump, and since it has to work more it has a tendency to slip more, if you don't have 2 belts on it make sure you do, and check the tightness of the belts, if they are old and dry they will not hook up well and will slip with water.
As for the wiring there is a couple of posts that asked for wiring diagrams and someone posted pics, if you can't find them by searching maybe someone will see this post and point you to it.
I do have a harness for the diesel trucks, I will check to see if it's in decent shape I would sell it to you cheap enough if you feel yours is beyond repair, I also have the guage cluster from the same diesel truck.
I will try and take a picture of the A/C with all the lines on it still hooked up, I took it all out in one piece so it could help you visualize it, and you can test the vacuum pump by disconnecting the hose at the pump and with a running engine see if it sucks your finger.:D
