hello every one im dave im new here and i just picked me up a 1987 blazer and its got a stock 208 in it and i also bought a np 205 divorced t case and was wondering how i could hook it up behind my 208 and use the 208 as a doubler box and the 205 as my final drive now i know im going to have to change the linkth of my drive lines but what do i use to hook the two t cases to gethe to not have to drasticly change every thing im lookin for the best cheapist way to do it on a budgit . and i was also going to twin stick to 205 and hopefuly get a front wheel dig out of it any idias on how to do this any info whould be helpful ty.

you dont have the room for that combo and have a rear driveshaft .

you would be better off with a real doubler or magnum box as they add the least amount of driveline length on the rear .

and any lift 4" or more on a blazer already = a C/V driveshaft for best highway ride and life span of driveline parts .

Doubler is 2 speed box . Magnum setup is 3 speed box . Close to the same price point .

Welcome!
Like he said, that divorced 205 just plain won’t leave you any room for a rear driveshaft.
There are plenty of outfits that make great doubler kits.
If you want something a bit less intensive, get a magnum box.
Again, welcome!

but i already have the divorced np 205 so i can twin stick it so what t case would adapt the that then or do u know cuz i need to get rid of the 208 any ways cuz it hella leaks

The 208 like to pop there guts . 241 is better .

Divorced case you would need to drill and tap the face if the full fig 8 pattern is cast in to it . Then bore out the bearing to bigger size . Swap in the 32 spline short input gear . All this just to get a regular style 205 to then do a doubler or magnum .

Sell the divorced 205 for someone swapping a IFS truck to solid axle .

Lay out your rigs info / intended use / and budget . We will get you down the right path for a lot less than just buy and hope parts shopping .

Are you down in Hanford California?
I am up by Sacramento.
I can work with you to figure out what you intend to use it for and what we can figure out.
I have a lot of options too but depending on your budget you buy the latest and greatest.

This /\

I know some hardcore wheelers that have actually “needed” this

Most people just think it sounds cool and never really use it

Or better yet, break stuff messing around

I like a twin stick for the comfort of knowing what range and mode it is in, rather than guessing.

But separating the front from the rear of the case probably isnt something you use much?

I never felt the need for it. I did twin stick my 203 because the shifter was messed up, and it was converted to part time. So it was easier 6o do the 2wd switch with one

Holy moly! I did not realize they were THAT short! I like my sm465 / 241 combo… but if I ever ran an auto trans that magnum with all the range options would be awesome - not as expensive as I thought it would be either

I'll add to the previous comments about dumping the divorced 205. You would be better off selling it and getting a round pattern 205 and just going with it. The 208 by itself would be a massive weak link in the middle anyway plus the low range is only marginally better than the 205. Thats a lot of work to make a 208 work as a doubler for not a lot of gearing difference.

As far as rear shaft length goes when a K5 is lifted the rear shaft gets pretty crappy angles, worse more with a shackleflip. So making the rear shaft shorter just increases the angle offset for the worse. Then if you do what most do by ditching the 10 bolt for a 14 bolt full floater for strength the rear shaft ends up being shorter again. Reason is the pinion yoke on a 14b is further forward from the axle centerline than it is in a 10b. Pretty soon you'd have a cj5'esq rear shaft that might be under 18" if you did manage to stuff the divorced 205 in there with the 208 and a 14b.

I'm all for being different and creative, but there's being different and going with what works. If it's going to be wheeled (which I'd guess that's the goal if some kind of doubler and twin stick are in the plan) I'd want it to be a proven strong combination that works to avoid breakage on the trail.

If you’re in the mood to make that deevorsed 205 be gone, PM me, I might be in a mood to take
It off your hands.
