New Tow rig. REDNECK STYLE!

:pimp1: :waytogo: :pimp: :saweet: :woot: thats f**king awesome. you did a real good job. if i didnt see the pic of the out side at first i'd be fooled into that being a new RV.

I vote to paint that sucker flat black, tint the windows, and put on a beefy road scraping bumper. Madmax like and all. ;)

btw, you do know that sucker will run on waste vegetable oil.. :D And it has a hefty appetite!

Convert it to 4x4 and take it to Moab and do some crawling with it. :haha:

Right now the plan is to,

1. Paint it semi gloss black.
2. Three windows on each side will be removed maybe a few more. Tinting would be cool.
3. There is a storage area in the rear. This will be shortened, master bedroom moved back and a toilet and shower added.

4. Probably put some tool boxes under the skirts in the unused areas. which might involve an aluminum wrap.

5. Observation platform on top.

6. Little bit of this and that in the interior and exterior. just clean up stuff.

7. Escape hatch in the roof next to the driver seat with a gun turret :D

Can you imagine how stuck youd get in that think. I'm not even sure you could get it to the entrance!

MTMike, my wife thinks a gun turret might just be over board. :haha:

I like it!!....

I think that think ROCKS!!...and its a DIESEL?? :D ...wish I saw it first!...

It could use some new paint (unless you want to name it "Barney" :haha: )..but it looks real comfy inside, and I have thought about making an old school bus into a camper in years past, but lately I've seen quite a few good deals on used motorhomes in my neighborhood (there are 3 large RV dealerships within a mile of my house, and many "trade ins" get bought by mechanics and other employees there and they re-sell them at reasonable cost to supplement their income..)

I knew a few people who cut off the back of a similar bus,and made the rear half into a beavertail ramp to haul race cars and mini pulling tractors...the front 20ft or so was the "kitchen" and sleeping quarters..they worked out very well, and the best part was you could register it as a camper, avoiding any CDL permits or DOT regulations...as far as the law was concerned,it was just another winnebago !..

Your going to really enjoy having that rig to party and sleep in at off road events and other activities...nothing beats having your own bathroom, and a familiar bed to pass out on!.. :D :D ...now I want to get one! :doah: :haha:

Course needs a coat of paint badly. Some other things I'd like to do to it as I get to them. Most importantly I'll be adding a shower, toilet and television!
dude purple is :pimp: :pimp1: X12 :D :haha:

I would advise against painting it black unless you have one hell of an A/C unit on it. Just think how hot it will get inside when its black, those things were bad enough when they were yellow :eek1:

Other than that, awesome score!

ya good call on that, i still rember how stupid hot it was on the bus ride home in the summer

got a line on a Nice AC unit to put in the back wall so shouldn't be no prob thier. My business paid for it so its kinda of a must thing to make it advertise a little for me. We are thinking about putting somekind of headliner set up in thier which may help with the heat transfer a bit. Side walls are already insulated. It needs alot of work to get it where I really want it but pretty much everything can be done along the way and is ready for use now.

you have any pictures of the cut off dove tailed stuff? I thought about going this route but due to the weight of a full size, I think I'd have to either hang a tag axle or get the blazer all the way up over the axle that is there. That would take away too much living space. Pulling a trailer is the way I'm headed now. Don't know what the DOT will think of that. :doah:

No pictures,sorry...

I never took any photo's of the bus campers I saw with the beavetail beds in the back..but I bet some similar ones could be found online, many people have converted busses to haul cars and equipment!..

The ones I saw were a car hauler bed up to 3' in front of the rear axle (roughly)...they put some lifted 4x4 pulling trucks on the one that also hauled the "mini" pulling tractors at different events, and those trucks had to weigh at least 4 tons, with the huge tires and rims, and the bus didn't seem to care at all!...those busses are pretty beefy, you figure a full sized bus hauls 65-70 adults that weight up to 200-300 lbs,do the math...roughly 15 to 20,000 lbs!..

I dont think a full size GM truck would overlad it a bit--its the bed itself that you have to make as light as possible..but even a heavy beavertail would weigh only 1 ton or so,unless you build it out of bridge girders or something!..If I can I'll see if I can find any pictures online--I dont know how tto post any,but I will give the website adress if I find any..

Thanks. I'll do some searching too. It'd be nice not to have to pull a trailer.

since you mentioned it had a detroit, i am assuming a 8.2. now, is a turbo engien or a N/A engine? if it is a N/A one, you can get a turbo setup off a turboed one and convert yours. but the 8.2 is pretty much a dog. it was detriots pathetic attempt at a 4 stroke. lol

i work on ford/freightliner busses everyday, but ours have 12/24 valve cummins or the new ones have 6 popper mercades bendz engines.

It is a dog. and N/A. A turbo would help it a bit.
