New Toy with some questions

just bought a new to me 79 jimmy 305, auto, np203 and here is the best, 14 bolt rear with 10.5 ring gear and dont know if the front is dana 60 or dana 44 8 lug(gonna look today after work.) got all this for 500 bucks my biggest question is what are some things i should do to get it running better. it will idle in park/netreal but when i drive it wants to die. i was planning on spark plugs wires change all fluids and possibly rebuild the carb. how well does seafoam work.

if it's a D60 the steering arm will be held on with 4 studs and a d44 or a 10 bolt will be held on with 3 studs. and D60 aill have one u-bolt and 2 studs holding the passenger side spring pack to the axle, and a d44/10b will use 2 u-bolts.

seafoam works great, at best it couldn't hurt.

also check your fuel filter
