So I picked up a 4l60e that has 8,000 miles on a complete rebuild. Now I have never owned one of these transmissions, and its been 15 years since I have even owned a vehicle with an automatic transmission.

I am curious as to what is/are the best ways to keep this transmission in shape, running good? Other than running the tranny lines through the radiator what else should I do to it?

Run a different pan? Add another cooler? or ????

Thanks for your tips ;)

I run an additional cooler and external filter. Clean and cool make auto's last. As for the pan, I like the alum. larger capacity ones. They have a better sealing surface and added cooling. The only drawback is that if something hits it hard enough it can crack, but that's what skid plates are for.
