Well after a long battle with the K5, I hurt, but I had to let it go, even after doing so much work to it. My weekends are too busy for wheeling, the Mrs. hated riding and getting in it, plus, I'm short selling my house and going back to an apartment, so the K5 had no where to park since it didn't fit in the one car garage. I will get another one someday. :D In the mean time, I got this. I know it lacks ground clearance, t-case and front axle, but I figured you guys would appreciate it.

Its a 1980 C10. I got it from the second owner, OG Cali truck, bone dry. It has a mild worked over 350 thats 5 months old, and an SM465 with a new clutch and 12 bolt rear end and dual tanks. All the moldings have been shaved, as have the drip rails. Paint is probably a decade old and is starting to crack, it will need to be repainted at somepoint, but in the duration, I will get it buffed out, these shots are before wax and a good detail.

I also got with the deal, another 4 bolt main block, 2.02 camel hump heads, a new Summit 388 stroker set with forged rods and pistons, Lunati Voodoo cam, crane roller rockers.

My plans, fix the speedo, temp, battery, and oil pressure gauges. Hook up the A/C and replace the heater core. Get rid of the Boyd knockoffs Circa 1997 and get some 8x15 and 10x15 Rally wheels with flat caps, Line-X the bed, tint the glass, redo the door panels, headliner, dash. First thing to go is the exhaust. I'm going to do headers and a nice setup all the way out. I also need to get some sort of limited slip in the rear since its a peg leg. It runs like a champ!

Looks clean bud. Nice score! Congrats! Even have a little walking room in the garage!

I needs some work, but its good. Notice the nail zip tied to the heater core "loop" hose to keep it from kinking? Nice touch.

Yup, fits in the garage with enough room to open the side door to the garage, and get in the tool box! I got a lot of crap on the driverside, the Audi wheels for my VW, and the extra 4 bolt main block.

I really like this truck. I have always wanted a C10 muscle truck. Now I got it!

Is it normal to start off the SM465 in 2nd gear? Is it a 4 speed, or a 3 speed with an extra really low granny gear thats only used for pulling stumps or getting a load moving? I dunno, but since the truck is so light and the motor is so torquey, I have been starting off in what I guess would be 2nd.

L-2-3-4, typically you start in 2nd not low, because low gears outta gear by 10mph haha. Dont worry your doing it right no worries, i learned stick on a granny 4 truck!

Ya, 2nd for sure. It sucks having to shift before you pass the cross walk. Looks good man. Have fun with it. I like those trucks also!

that thing needs a m20 or m21 swap. then it would be a fun driver. nice truck though. if i could get 2 kids and the wife in one i would have a 73-80 swb or stepside just bout like that one:waytogo:

looks like a mini beast :). Im suprised the wife didnt like the blazer all the girls round here ive talked to love my 76 k5 especially when its covered in mud :D.

Looks good. Needs new paint job...

:D

Wow!!!! Thats insane! What you have putting power to those rear tires?

Yeah, I figured out that if you want to put it in reverse, you need to put it in 2nd to stop the main shaft. :D I did notice that when its warm, when in 2nd, I hear a whirring noise at times when i put light movement on the gear lever or if it moves with load. Almost sounds like grinding gears. Maybe this old box is tired, or maybe its normal?

if it was me ditch the sm465 to big for the truck combo now.

go get a 5 or 6 speed from like a camero or tbird . then swap it in. best of both worlds and od in the tranny for drivin it.

my old boss has a 68ish mustang. blew out the old 4 speed long story. but i talked him in to 5 speed since can is no way close to orignal.

at 45 mph it was 2500ish rpm in 4th . then 5th at 45 mph its now 1200ish rpm.

he loves the can now as he can drive it anywere and pass a gas station.

and with your truck just grab a lockright for the open diff and be a easy swap in for you.

Its not mine, just was looking for examples of FLAT / MATTE Black paint scheme and saved this pic. I think its b@d@zz for sure.

So I got the paint buffed out, the rear window tinted, inside shampoo'd.

Its off tomorrow for headers and exhaust.

I fixed PART of the gauge issues, the first thing I checked, was the fuse, missing. I put in a fuse, Volt gauge now works, so does the fuel gauge (it changes when I switch tanks). I noticed a black plastic connector with an orange wire that looks like it plugs into the fuse box that is dangling unhooked. Do not know what its for or where it goes. I will take a pic and post it up later. From GM's headache giving diagram, it looks like hazards (that don't work) or the clock (doesn't work) :p:

The temp gauge wiring is spotty so I need to run a new wire, the oil pressure gauge I got to figure out whats up there, speedo, we'll see when I get under the truck. I have some other electric issues, dome light, cargo light do not work. I will tackle that stuff later. Its time for beer and hotdogs. :D

BTW, anyone know how to switch between tanks? Is there a procedure or just flip the switch????

if its like my 83, flip the switch and fully depress it, you should hear a "click" as the solenoid moves. Gas needle (if fuel ammounts were different) should move as well.
