New truck!

I just dropped it off this morning to get a custom built set of stainless headers, and exhaust. I will get pics of it and the truck all polished out when I get it back. :D

It must be hard to find a C10 built like that and still retain the sm465.

nice new truck.sux to get rid of the k5,but at least you still get a nice fun ride to roll around in.easy to customize also.you got a good start already.

Yeah, Its cool, but its a country mile between gear changes. I would love to find better box like a 4-5 speed. The shifter feels loose and the gears grind a little if the shift lever isn't in the right spot in 1-st. Its a night and day comparison between the K5, this thing rides like a caddy and is quiet inside. Love it.

Ok, update.

So I got it dropped off for the exhaust last week, only to have my buddy call me and inform me the fuel tank selector valve is leaking, so I ordered one of those from OEHQ.com, $76 free shipping. Its a 6 port with a single wire. He went ahead and build an exhaust, for it without welding under the truck true duals with an X pipe and two 4x9 Magnaflows, but the headers will have to wait until the leak is fixed. I will rehose the fuel lines under the bed too since I will likely have to take off the bed to do it.

Trying to track down a rear bumper, and a steering wheel to get rid of the little one.

My Audi wheels for my VW maybe sold tomorrow, and I will likely pick up a set of 15x7.5 and 8.5 inch Torque Thrust II wheels for it and ditch the 90's era stuff.

ive always wondered if the factory dual tank setup could be modified for a better style, although the setup on my 83 works nice.

I may just put in a Blazer/burb tank at somepoint and ditch the side saddles. That would be cool. The valve I ordered will be here this week. How hard (how many beers and bodies) is it to get the bed off? I can do the valve from underneath, but if I'm doing the valve, might as well rehose....... I need a lot of hose from the looks of it. :D

BTW, anyone know how to switch between tanks? Is there a procedure or just flip the switch????

You my have to check the valve they were bad about going out if not use much, back in the day when these trucks were new. Had to replace a few when I use to have them old trucks back in the 80's.

Yeah I think the valve is shot, I couldn't hear it, and now that I have mesed with the switch, it started leaking gas out of it. :p:

Well, my truck sounded so good on the way back from my buddies shop, I laid on it in 2nd and I heard a loud bang! :D Damn. The rear U-Joint, was absolutely GONE. The needle bearings were wadded up in the end, and the shaft portion was D shaped instead of round, as you can see, there is no grease on them!

On a side note, I got introduced to a great driveline shop here in Orange County, OC Driveline. They are going to replace all three joints, and a new center support bearing and balance for $225!

Here is a pic of the damage, the good news is, it managed to not leave a mark on my new mufflers or X pipe. I will take a pic of the exhaust later. You can see a peak of it now. I will pop the drive shaft back in and take it to the shop to put the fuel valve in. Don't want to mess with it on the garage floor. :p:

eh, light pavement scuffing. I was quick on the clutch and brakes after I heard the bang. It actually looks OK. My yolk on the diff is also ok. Thankfully. Lucky ducky me!

here is a pic of it after it got hit with tint and a buffer. I forgot to post it. Looks WAY better then when I first got it.

I'm thinking 15x10 rear, 15x8 rally wheels with flat caps and trim rings. :D
