Just got this upgrade for the 97.

Anyone used one of these? A buddy put one on his dad's truck, said it was the best upgrade he ever made. Not feeling up to the install and testing today, tomorrow hopefully.

UPDATE, its a piece of junk haha. Oh well. Basically it does NOTHING at wide open throttle which is where I expected and wanted an improvement. It does something at part throttle but I don't really see a point. I guess towing a trailer it will be nice to have quick firm shifts but I was really looking for more at WOT. Oh well, save your money for a programmer that will do more to the trans in the end.

what does the install consist of??

Just some wire splicing and mounting the switch. I've heard good reviews about those switches. I hope you like it. My Sonoma would have one except they don't work on 2002 trucks. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

It's a shift improver, the new transmissions are controlled electronicly (no TV cable or mechanical controlls) and this doohicky makes the servos inside the tranny shift faster and hold harder. I believe it boosts line pressure and holds a few of the gears longer so you use the full range of power before hitting the next gear. I think there are four settings to choose from also /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

I'm not quite sure myself, my tranny shifts a little sloppy so I am hoping it shifts quicker and harder(what it claims to do). I don't need more RPMs out of shifts, as it is I shift at like 5500 RPMs, not bad for a stock 350. ANd yeah install is splicing 2 wires and thats it. I will take pictures when I install it tomorrow and review it, maybe make a video if its that amazing of an improvement.
