Look in my photo album, I have some pics of when I tapped my top. Just be sure not to tap too far as it is tapered.

Do not do that. The fitting and the tap are tapered. When you tap the hole on mine I wanted a minimum of 3 full threads of engagment. I had to tap some then check the fit until it was where I wanted it.
The taper in the hole and the fitting cause the 2 to wedge together creating the seal on the fitting and it almost acts like a locked fitting. I also put some thread sealant (liquid type) although it is not a requirement.

Even though Steven doesn't come here anymore and I hardly ever do I thought I'd say that I purchased his new-new design hydro steer cap and 10° caster shims on April 3rd and they arrived on April 7th. Seems to be of top quality to me.

is jkwoffroad still an active vendor on here? I want to get this cap and send him my top. I looked on his site but it's a different price. He doesn't get pm's anymore anybody know how quickly he responds to email?
I would say no. His banner ads still show on the site but his membership has expired and his last visit was 05-15-2007 .
Price used to be $45 on his site too. I guess rising steel prices forced him to raise prices.

how do you install one of these caps? do you have to disassemble the entire box? or just pop off the end with a large clip?
i just ordered a cap and shift rails from him...
