Here's a picture of my new hydro assist cap. This replaces the stock aluminum cap for adding hydraulic assist to your 73-87 GM steering box. The cap is made from steel and is CNC machined with a 3/8 NPT pipe tap.

Cost on the cap is $45 + shipping. I'll also tap your top cap for $10.

Can you post a pic of where the other line runs for this setup?

How does this design compare to the taps close to the other end of the box?

You can see the fitting in the installed picture - on the top cap - that's the fitting with two hex's - one above the other with the tube coming out of the top.

Once you get the top cap off it's real obvious where the tap should be. There's only one area it can be positioned and miss everything else.

I bought your cap a few weeks ago and I am very pleased with it. The installation is very simple and nothing to be afraid of. When you take the top cap off you can clearly see where the fitting needs to go from the back side.

I was going to take some pics of the install but it was truly so simple I didn't even waste the time.

How far off the end of the box does the cap and fitting stick? Need to see if it will clear the frame on my S10 frame.

shipped

jackedjimmy350 - I replied to you via the email that was sent by paypal about the twin stick order with a conformation of the order and telling you when it would ship. I also replied to the ebay message you sent. I would suspect that my emails are being blocked or but in a "spam" folder or simething of that nature.

Assuming you are the Justin who ordered on Feb 10, your twin stick shipped on Monday the 13th. If you don't have it already, it should be there today - Friday.

Sorry for the confusion.

so preformance wise, this is no different than tapping on the main body of the box?

No difference in tapping the cast body as far as performance - but you won't have to remove the steering box, take it completely apart and clean out the chips when using my cap. Also the top cap can be removed without taking the box off the vehicle. It pretty much comes down to time vs money. Both methods are equal in performance.

"ok i will buy from you"
quote from tommy boy
so i have to take off my top cap and send it to you?

surpip - you have to take the top cap off in order to tap it. I'll be glad to tap it for you or you can tap it yourself. It's not hard to do, you just need the right size drill and a pipe tap.

maybe a stupid Q but what is the difference between this setup and the one that you drill into the vains on the side on the ps box? other then tire clearence. do not have to drill and tap the box anywhere?
