where is the fill hole located?i just read another post about filing through the top of the shifter!?that can be done?if so,how?thanks in advance.

pull the shifter out and pour the fluid on down it. It is a lot easier than the usual setup. On the side of the transmission is a fill plug up above one of the PTO covers. Its a pain cause its up near the body so you can't tilt a bottle for crap.

the fill is on the drvers side above pto plate. i dont know if you can fill through the shifter but i dont see why you couldnt.

yep, the fill hole is on the driver side about half way up. i pull the fill plug out and dump the gear oil in the shifter hole till it runs out of the hole. it takes exactly 1 gallon if your wondering :waytogo:

so how do i pull the shifter out? i've never really looked at it.does it bolt to the top of the case?thanks.my trans.needs fluid but i've put it off for lack of know how.

there is the metal dome where it enters the top of the tranny. push that down and turn it counter clockwise, then you can remove the shifter. :waytogo:

btw, i seen you sunday, you were turning onto m66 south from tuttle road. i was with my buddy in his black k10.

its real easy to pull shifter out, alot easier than pulling out fill plug

this is how i fill my 465's also

youl need a large pair of pliers to grip and push down and turn the sheetmetal dome thing counterclockwise- it sits on two roll pins in the shifter casting top of the trans case

its real easy once youve done it once youll always do it this way
