newbie to k5's here. thoughts on 2" lifts

IMO 2" lift rides the best. However, 33s with stock steelies works with no lift...

Depends upon the truck, and like you mentioned the wheels.

Sorry for the crappy old cell phone pictures, but here is an old 1985 K5 of mine with bone stock suspension, and the two pack front leaf springs. I bolted up these old 33x12.50x15's on silly wide (15"x10") white spokes. I could not turn the wheel.

By merely cutting off the rear part of the front fenders, I was fine.

OP, what wheels are you going to use (please say stock wheels....)? What size tire do you want?

Have you looked into the 1" body lift at all? I honestly know of no one who regrets installing one after they've done so.

What are you think for the rear? Lift springs? Blocks? How much are you willing to spend? A 2.5" shackle flip from ORD would be sweet with some 2" lift springs in the front.

Here's my burb when I got it. 33x12.5x16.5s on 9.75 wide wagon wheels. No lift. Only DDed it so no rubbing problems.

is it possible to do a 2" lift with 35" tires and cut fenders?

i am thinking about bringing mying down, i already have cut fenders, and im not ready to buy 33" at this point.

i think it would look sweet

Yep. Rolled with that setup years ago. Cutting opens up lots of possibilities! Lol!

Cutting fenders and 4-6 inch lift I've seen guys on here do 40s. It's all about how much you decide to chop out and how good you are with body work if you want it to Look good Or Just be functional. No lift and cutting you
Can do 35s. We did that on my buddy's sub. Lock to lock it rubbed on turns though. The lift Will help that though. 2 inch with a zero rate would make the front perfect with cutting the fender some. Just Depends On how attached You are to your sheet metal.

33s with no lift worked for me. One set was only a 10.5" wide tire though. The other set was on my CUCV K5 and they were 12.5" wide on 15x8 black D-windows. Might have done some minor trimming on the CUCV. The CUCV K5 looked perfect like that for some reason but the K5 with the 10.5s always seemed like it needed an inch or two lift .

I would look into the shackle flip rear. I have the 4 inch ord flip and it seems like it flexes way better than it did with blocks. I have the 4 inch flip with 2 inch springs in the rear 6 inch up front zero rates all the way around and 1 inch body lift. I also trimmed some before I added extra lift.... pretty sure I could clear 40's with no problems maybe 42's. I wish I would have stayed lower. It was way more fun to drive on the street at 4 inches of lift. Don't waste your money like I did changing stuff multiple times. Figure out what you want first lol
