I just got a 1989 k5 and it's in good condition has not been ragged on. I was driving home and the rear started to shutter a bit so I slowed down and out came the rear driveshaft. To add insult to injury the tailshaft housing snapped off the transfer case. Also where the transfercase adapter bolts up to the transmission it's broke and missing chunks. Now it still has the support brace going from the transfer case to the bellhousing. I haven't even got to play in the dirt with it yet! So what all could cuase it to grenade the transmission housing like that? There were zero leaks under it to even hint of a upcoming failure. I'm stumped I got another transmission to put in it but I'm scared to do it till I know what caused this one to explode.
