I recently had my automatic TH350 rebuilt and the guy put a shift kit, new torque converter, and completely rebuilt it for me. Anyways now it won't shift. Everything's hooked up. Like it goes into drive and reverse and all they and can get down the road but won't shift. It's like it's stuck in 2nd gear. I can sometimes get it to go down in 1st manually like 25% of the time. Also I just recently found that my linkage lever that's on the side of the transmission is loose and can pull out and in like a 1/4 of an inch and the bolt was way loose or so it seemed. I tried tightening it and somehow it stripped the threads and will not come off or tighten. So now my buddy is coming with his dye and hopefully we can rethread it and I can tighten my lever and it will work. I think that's why it wouldn't work. Or am I totally wrong? And yes the transmission was full on fluid. Anyways feedback and help would be much appreciated.

Have you gotten with your trans builder on this? if everything was done as it should be you should have a proper working trans, unless your installation caused an error. No upshifts or starting in second gear can be the result of low or no vacuum, stuck governor or stripped gear, sticking shift valve or detent valves, incorrect separator plate or checkball placement. Those selector shaft threads came in standard and metric threads, check yours before you try the re-thread process. It will be 3/8 or 10x1.50

It's 10x1.50. I contacted the installer and he said I probably did something while installing it and to drop the trans and bring it up there and that he won't "give me a hard time." That's cool and all but I think I'm gonna tell him that I'm just gonna bring the truck up there. That way he can make sure everything's hooked up right and so I don't have to drop it and put it back in. I changed the modulator and I have vacuume too. I'm hoping it's just that the linkage was really loose. I also have no idea why and or how it stripped but yeah. When I got the tranny back it didn't have a linkage lever or nut on it so I had to take one off of my 700r on a junk truck. Anyways hopefully this fixes it

I agree that you should take the truck rather than just the trans, that way if he did make a mistake he can easily test the results once he corrects it or can help you find any install error if you made one.
