Nice '76 Chalet on craigslist

Serial #0258 built 7/76. The annoying thing about it is that it was on an Olympia WA Craigslist ad only a couple of weeks earlier for $3500, owned by one of the members at our Yahoo Groups forum since mid 2006.

We have a dealer/seller, out to make a quick profitable flip.

I'll have to ask the previous guy what those big white circle things are for on the front part of the closet. He fabbed up a replacement metal bezel to go around the furnace outlet, the original plastic ones tend to crumble apart.

It would be a steal at $3500, but not so much at $7900. It's those 4x4 OFF ROAD decals that have driven up the price, no doubt...

I'm also curious about the 6 honking screws that are in both door panels -between the window regulator and the door latch handle. Maybe you could ask the PO if you get in touch with him.

thats one of the best lookin ones ive ever seen.i would love to own one as well.low mileage and the top is in perfect shape from the looks of things.very well taken care of from what the pictures show.

I hate it when they take a $3 can of spray paint and paint everything under the hood for two reasons.

1. I'd like to see just how it look.
2. They think they can raise the price 2k just because they sprayed over the rust.

x2.

I hadn't noticed those. I lightened up the contrast a bunch, they look like pop rivets in the photo here, plus the window crank doesn't look healthy. I'll try emailing the P.O. on what that's all about....

Looks nice, my Sunday school teacher from high school has a '76 Chalet and loves it. Coincidentally he is the person I purchased my first K5 from 7 years ago, glad he got me into this expensive hobby/obsession.

or,"leave me alone you cyber truck stalker"
Silly Kurtis, that's the "Chalet Spy Service". Plus, the PO in this case was Alan over at Yahoo forum, he laughed when I told him about the doubling+ of his sale price.

Speaking of which, the actual CSS Chalet #0991 below was camo'd halfway recently and is now for sale on Craigslist here http://oregoncoast.craigslist.org/cto/2569493770.html

Seems to me we know somebody in dire need again of a green camo Chalet......:D

I work only 2 miles from this Chalet and stopped by to look at it finally yesterday. I'm sorry to say that I didn't look at the screws/rivets on the front door panels so I can't offer the conclusion to the mystery.

The price on the window is now $6,500.

He opened up the back and I had a look around, everything is in very good shape. The comments regarding the spray-paint over the rust is typically true but this looks very clean and not abused in any way. It was resprayed at some point and the hood has the typical crease, patched with a plate on the driver side and a small amount of rust showing on the leading edge of the hood on the passenger side. But aside from those issues it is remarkably clean in and out.

If I didn't already have two K5's and the wife and I didn't just buy a house on a small lot with no outside parking I'd be considering this due to its quality.

The dealer didn't give a damn about me though... he opened the back door and told me his lunch just arrived so he'd be inside if I needed anything.

Alas, it's the same one from last August in this thread, where the same guy who rounded up #1602 in Bakersfield (for $2500 if I have it right) also got this #1781. He finally sold #1602 on ebay just recently after 4 prior listings for a decent profit without doing much more than cleaning it up, and I was guessing it would be a matter of time before #1781 got listed. Last I saw, this other one never changed price from its original $3500 price in Temple City.

These various ebay bidders do themselves a disfavor by not joining our Chalet forum to check out the 'for sale' list I maintain. They could save themselves thousands by snagging these before the speculator dealers get to 'em....

Have you ever come across one that same with a 4 speed from the factory, or did they all get TH350's?

In my mega-notes for all the ads I've run across, serial #1555 (last seen for sale in McKinleyville, CA) claimed to have a 4-speed, along with #1784 (last seen for sale in Pagosa Springs, CO). No way for me to tell if these were both factory original, though, but I guess it is possible if the Chinook people were looking more for a particular color combo Cheyenne or High Sierra truck to pull off the Flint line. One guy with a '76 Casa Grande in Dallas long ago claimed his had a factory 454 in it, but I never heard from him again.
