Nice rig but $13K?

13,000 is a steal if its a clean as the pictures make it look

Dead sexy, nice build...not sure what issues you have with the interior? Color maybe?

Still, $13.5K is a lot of cake. Smog exempt I would prefer to see a healthy big block in that.

im looking to build a DD like that after all these other projects get done but it would have to be black, super clean truck tho

Nice clean truck. Looks like they did a good job. I like how they finished off the area behind the seat.

+1 ... that is a good deal. You couldn't build it for under 20K like that.... if it's really as clean as the pics and done right. I just finished dumping 20K into one...so I have a good idea.

There are a ton of us that have $20K into a $5K rig...not to burst your bubble.

Things that hurt this particular truck for resale IMHO:

Small block...don't care it's a 383. How do I really know it's a 383? 454 FTW.

3/4 ton...OK it has the 14 bolt FF rear. Still has a D44 or 10 bolt front. D60 FTW

Saddle interior...Just because I like the tan/Saddle doesn't mean that 90% of everyone else out there doesn't hate it. Second worst interior color right after red (pink)

It's a square body...still a common truck, and probably will continue to be common enough for the next 20 years.

If I was lookin, and I had the cash I'd still probably go $6500 tops. It doesn't matter what he has into it...

I disagree Renee its not a 6500.00 truck its to clean and straight 13,500 is a good price

I know we've had threads like this before, but this truck is worth asking price . he most likely has twice what he's asking in it.

and a "454" could just be a 396 . If people make claims about the engines I ask to see receipts.

LOL and I like the pre 81 "saddle" Interiors!! its my favorite!!

only thing I can see wrong is that it has 81-Up door panels and a still has the NP203

Area right under the rear window is poorly done and lumpy (will fall off after a year or two in the CA heat) , material around the rear speaker is showing sheet metal, Door panel carpet doesnt match floor carper, pockets on both doors wrong color and driver's side pocket is loose or ripped. Heck even the door panels are wrong for that year. Small crack on dash, arm rest on door different color. Mind you not big deals but for $13,500 it should be done better. Pops owned an upholstery shop and has been doing it over 40 years and I spent ages 12-18 there during the summers. Learned alot about interiors. As a side job we would look for these trucks, buy them cheap, and then flip them. In fact he just sold an 82' K20 in VERY similar condition and struggled to get 8K out of it.

He may have WAY more in that thing then what he is asking but since these trucks are so common and so easy to work on $13K seems like a lot to me. Don't get me wrong its a very clean, straight truck, but getting anyone to but it for that price and it going to be on CL for a long time. The only thing IMHO it has going for it is the fact that here in CA 1975 and older is smog exempt.

North of $6500 things have got to be pretty tight. Era correct interior and exterior is one. Compare this to Craig Artzners K5...which he picked up for $5K. I know which one I'd take if the choice was mine. Squares have almost zero resale in comparison to $$ spent building them. They're great trucks, and lousy investments. It's gonna be that way another 10-20 years too...

The only reason to sink $$ into a square is because you love it, and plan to have it a good long time.

Craig got a once in a Lifetime find on his K5 he must have had some serious Karma saved up!!!

I'm not an interior guy, to me it looked in above average condition...but nothing showy, or anything that leapt out and said "i'm worth $13K+"

Good eye for the little details! :waytogo:

Holy 'sh!t, I thought I was listening to a bunch of Corvette critiques here.
That looks to be a dam nice truck for what it is. And 13000 is probably about 60% of what he has in it. If it was my truck and you all were picking at it like you are, I'd say look at the engine pad for matching #'s....

"Just because so many people ask if its the original engine...after having it decked when the machine work was done, I stamped fu*k off on the engine pad. I've had a few lookers at car shows looking for the numbers, then they stand up straight and look at me with a very puzzled look on their face.....yep thats there for you pal."

:haha::haha::haha:

No its just if you are going to ask so much for a fairly common truck it had better be SPOT on. It is a nice clean rig though that i would be proud to own for sure.
Interior stuff i notice because its what i did for awhile. That interior job was a cheap 'get it done for as little as possible job'. I think we are just so spoiled to see no huge holes in the carpet or seat that we think its beautiful. LOL i'm guilty of it too!

I dunno, his truck went unsold for well over a year in a better economy. It wasn't through lack of advertising, it went unsold on eBay several times. Was Craig shrewd? Definitely! Lucky, probably. Is his K5 worth more? definitely...but not $8K more and it's a rarer, 100% correct survivor rather than a mix/match build on a more common truck.

Don't get me wrong, i love this white truck...it's just my opinion that it's very overpriced for what it is and how it is built. I see a lot of time and effort on components that aren't worth their weight in scrap on this truck. That doesn't add value for me. specifically SBC, 10/44 front, 203. Even with receipts i'm not gonna feel confident it's a 383 until I can pull a head and measure the stroke. With a BBC even if it's a 396 you're still good IMO.

The rest of the Truck makes up for the "sub-par" interior

No it doesn't...it's pretty and that's it. I've seen prettier with better drivetrain for sale here for $5K less.

I like it, I just don't think it's worth anywhere near what he is asking. I don't care what he spent, it's irrelevant.

If you want a high price for a square body it has to look good, and this one does. Beyond that it needs one of two scenarios. 1) the good parts. BBC, 205, 60/14 with some goodies. or 2) 100% original. This truck has neither, plus a sub par interior.

Still love ya man...but you got too much money. :haha:
