Not sure if this was posted. My truck has sat for 4 years trying to get through emissions testing and failing every time. So it seems certain vehicles fall under this. My truck ran like a raped ape with the holley truck avenger and crap with the q-jet. Almost eent propane. Truck is at a shop to get it all sorted out and running good. And will take a few weeks thus I will then be emissions exempt!!!!!

Congrats to you guys! It's hard to believe a bureaucracy was able to pull it's collective head out of it's ass long enough to do something that made sense.

I wish the state of Nevada would do that, and exempt everything over 25-years old. Since manufactures and aftermarket companies do not support some of the emission parts for these vehicles anymore, how can a person possibly keep them compliant. I know somebody is going to reply about classic plates for my rigs, but those only allow for a limited amount of miles, and not a daily driver. The DMV here does randomly audit Classic Plated vehicles for mileage, and if caught...that's it for your Classic Plates.

Yup. That's why I have been and will be smogging the Blazer for as long as I can.

yeah, joysey has QQ plates at 25.. but you could have a 40 yr old car, without QQ's, and still have to go thru emissions.. we have the same restrictions, but I've never heard of them doing audit's on em... I never had em on any, cuz I didn't want to have to lie to a cop and go "oh, I'm on the way to the muffler shop, etc"...

what's amazing to me, that something that started as a safety, "keep people from dying" thing turned into a tree-hugger mantra... f*ck having taillights, but god forbid it smokes a bit...

leave it to gubment to f*ck sh*t up enough they couldn't afford to continue doing something soooo important to them here in Naziville.... Montana? yeah, I could see getting rid of, or not having, it..... here? never thought it would happen...

need to build me some lopey firebreather now....

I'm still curious about what they're doing for stability inspections and how they're supposed to enforce lift height and tire size laws.

technically, one never had anything to do with the other.. well, other than they did everything at tilt.. afaik, you had 2 stickers, one standard, and one stability... so in my mind, the tilt one would still apply... if a cop see's a lifted rig, with no tilt sticker, he could check it out... new law or not..

Ill let u know. Calling tmorrow.

I know we need the left sticker.
My truck is legl heught. Well kinda. When the new d1ckbags got in. They passed my 40in hawgs. But last time i went through i failed emissions. He kept measuring my tires. 38.0 is legal. Im 38.8 and he cant fail me fvcker passed me...

Im going crew cab..12k gvrw and lift exempt. Ill b runnin 44s 46s or 54s fvckem

I'm always amazed when logic works in our favor. In BC where I used to live we dealt with emissions testing for 20 years or so. Towards the end of that time as cars got a ton cleaner and stayed that way longer fewer and fewer cars were failing. For the last 5 or 6 years new cars were exempt, cars under 10 years old were tested once every two years. Finally they just shut the whole thing down...

We don't have any emissions testing in Alberta.

I just got off the phone w/ the stability inspection in Winslow. He said ANY vehicle lifted more than 4" is subject to a tilt test. The new emissions exemptions for age, weight class or diesel has nothing to do w/ stability.

You were exactly right.

well I to just got off the phone.. now it gets funnier yet..

called Win(Slow) and busy signal... called 5 times different times... busy...
Called Westfield - told me their high rise test machine is broke - WTH it is a wall!!!! LOL
Called Asbury - guy was super cool. he said need to come in for lift stuff if over 4"

now the fun part. He said 38" true measurement tire. I am 38.8" and he said it is a judgement call by them (if the truck was built right in many ways they would allow it).
Quick history.
in 2004 inspection passed emissions, 4 lights on front bumper functional, 5 on rollbar no wires in sight, lift and 40" hawgs
in 2006 they brought a new crew in, passed emissions, bumper lights = failed, rollbar lights not wired = failed, lift and 40" hawgs passed and written on paper as 38.8" Denman Ground Hawgs 40x17x16.5
oh and check this out... Failed for no front mudflaps!!!!!!

back to Asbury dude...
he said lights... I dont care.. if you got 9 and all covered... passed.
tires - same.. if previous papers passed them, pass
front mudflaps no longer required

I just realize it has been 8 YEARS my truck has sat in the driveway!!!!!! WTH!!!!!!!

fyi the way this works is they weigh your truck.... you then drive up the wall and onto scales on downside. remeasure. If there is more than a certain % weight shift aka flexy.... you will fail. you dont have to roll to fail.

so wonder when I will get mine. my registration isnt up until June...

fyi your VIN is sooooo huge... mine is tiny.. lol.. reconstruction... NJxxxC - omiting the numbers due to internet thiefs who would use my bad azz vin to get far in life and try to rockit like me!

All the guys on the old NJ$W site said Asbury was the place to go because they use common sense. So did you pass?

no went years ago. I am going to wait for my emissions exempt sticker and let these guys mess with my truck. If I do not like how it runs I am picking up another truck avenger. Loved how it ran. When we went wheeling it had the truck avenger on it.. I think it ran good. We didnt get extreme so tough to tell but power wise its like 200% better

I am wondering what happens if we have the inspection exempt sticker if police think it doesnt even need the lift part... if it is "Exempt" from inspection

To be honest, I bet 95% of the cops out there have no clue about the tilt test or the lift laws and tire heights. They're definitely don't know what factory door heights are to do a measurement. Any cop who sees your truck will know it's lifted but not how much. Some might know about the 38" tire limit so if you don't go over that you're safer. Of course you run the risk of running into that one cop (or park ranger in the Pines) who actually knows, and that can lead to some tix and an impound. You'd probably be OK if you have the new inspection waiver form and play stupid about the lift stuff.

ain't a chance in he!! I'm tilt testing Mutt unless forced to... my local
LEO love the rig....

haven't bladed my sticker, but soon.. with a video ceremony!!!!!!!

hellz yeah ceremony that biach..

Ill get mine 100% legal as I want 0 issues. Now if I can find that 12k gvrw crew cab this biach will be runnin 54" boggers all the way to shoprite!!!!!!!!!!!
