I when to start my 90 Jimmy and I turn the key to the 1st position and let the fuel pump prime, them I go to start it and I get a loud clicking sound for a second and no crank. I turn it off and try again but this time there are no lights on the dash and no electrical works. I checked all the fuses, battery and they were all good. I figure it is the starter solenoid so I get a replacement. I installed it today and it fired right up and ran like a dream. I get it back to the garage after a short drive and I turn it off. To see if I had solved the problem I try to turn it on again and the same loud clicking and no crank return. I threw the towel in for the day and decided I would seek advice from the all-knowing forum. You guys have helped my greatly before hopefully, you can again. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a bad connection. Check the battery terminals, the battery ground to block, etc.

Yep /\

something isn't quit connecting .
Charge that battery good. Then start at the battery and work to the frame, and to the solenoid looking for the bad spot.
If there's any corrosion, now is a good time to fix...

I agree with blue85, something is loose you temporarily got a good enough of a connection when you replaced the battery but that was just luck. Check all positive AND negative cables everywhere on the truck, if one is loose or has a poor connection there are probably more.
