im gonna switch from my 465 tranny to a automatic,350,465,205,thats where i stand,what do i need to get to mate a 350 auto,to my sbc,and my 205,thanks

Just drive to my house and we'll swap. I WANT the SM465/205 and have the th350.

i will swap you for a 400 and 205(twin sticked even) just drive over here, we got everything we need in our garage

no but seriously, you will need a flexplate, torque converter, and a th350 crossmember, the 350-205 adapter and a np205...

should be much easier than going the other way

you think that it would cross his mind that after 5 post of guys wanting to get rid of their autos in a heartbeat for a manual that he would stick with the stick

just wondering but why you getting rid of it?

Heck if everyone is wanting the 465 so bad. I'll swap my 465/208 combo for a 700r4....:wink1:

Because as much as I hate to do it, my K5, is going more towards a street rig than an off road rig :(...for now at least. Once I finish college and can afford going off road and taking a chance of breaking something, then I'll build it back to a more capeable offroad rig...and since all i do right now is stop light to stop light, and freeway driving i rather just put it in "D" and go...

personaly i will stick with my stick sadly i see more road then off but the ole stick is sticking around would like to go with a 205 though. but money is tigh and im sticking with the stick and 208... until then stick around and see whose sticking

i can understand that i drove my 86 as a daily driver for 5 years and as much as i would have loved to have OD i always felt better knowing i didnt have to worry about the tranny going out and my only problem is the stop light to stop light, its not that i have to shift gears its that i love going from stop light to stop light as fast i can and shifting my own gears makes me feel so much better :D

Autos suck. If you want to actually control your vehicle and keep its capability than i suggest keeping the SM465.

dont forget to swap radiator's as well and you will need to those PITA cooling lines.

Here's another "Why?" on the auto... I just spent the last 9 months accumulating the parts and swapping my TH400 for a 465 and haven't looked back since. Much more control and much less heat.

When I drive mine I never think about it being a stick, except first thing on a cold morning where 1st is a bit stubborn to get into. It's not my daily driver now, but it was. My daily driven car is a manual as well if it matters.

A poor clutch setup is a pain, which is why my trucks clutch is hydraulic. :)

Those old style Borg clutches are a pain. I switched to a diaphragm style and can press my pedal by hand if wanted to. I am currently drining my 465 daily and dont really notice it as my car is a stick as well. The control off-road with a manual is so much greater too. No torque converter stall and no coasting down hill when you hit the brakes.

So, how many of you guys daily drive your SM465's?
I used to drive my Blazer everyday with the 465. Since i went muddin over a year ago i haven't even drove it. Been brokeded :doah:

As for the manual to auto swap i gotta ask why also

City driving I can see but other than that i'd much rather shift myself

Just preference though :dunno:
