No power driving up hill

Ok so it’s definitely a th350 transmission, I can add pics without upgrading this forum. But I checked the shape of the pan. There are no tags in glove box
It could be under the hood too, I think on one of the inner fender wells.

Just curious on how ya identified that it was definitely a TH350 ?

Easiest way for a novice ( all of us had to learn what’s what at some point in life ) to identify each type quickly and accurately is by the trans oil pan.

A TH700R4 is rectangular and is held on with 16 bolts to the case.

A TH350 is almost a perfect square shape with a corner cut off at an angle.
This “cut off” corner is at the rear of the trans case on the passenger side right next to your front driveshafts CV-joint.

I took a picture of the pan then I went to lmc truck website and compared the pan shape to the pans they sell and what pan belongs to what transmission and baaam figured it out lol

Ok so little update, I got new tires and I went with 31” tires. Doesn’t look too bad on the truck with the lift. Does feel a little better and responsive when I step on gas pedal. I have a new quadrajet carb coming in Monday so I will install that and then hopefully all is fixed for the hills. Crossing my fingers

How is your speedometer reading? You can check your actual speed by using a GPS app or drive behind a friend who’s doing 60 to see what % your speedo is off, if any now.

I would need to see pics of it not looking bad with a lift and 31’s.

When is the next mountain drive ? Glad you went with 31". If the engine isn't doing around 3k rpm at 65 mph your gear ratio is below 3.5 numerically

Well the speedo was never right because the guy I bought it from put a digital dash and never calibrated the speedo, I still need to calibrate it. Doesn’t look as bad as I thought it would but definitely looked better with bigger tires lol

Fuel filter...?
Had a problem with mine in the WV hills in 23.
Took 3 filter changes to clean it out.
Still miss that K5...

I put a new one in the carb. I’m getting a new quadrajet carburetor this Friday. Im pretty sure the carb isn’t working properly so I bought a new one.

Where in California do you live?
San Jose?
I am in Sacramento and I can help with advice and even if you need some good used parts.
I am glad you stayed with the quadrajet, it's still the best for economy and off road.

I put new carb on today but I didn’t connect vacuum lines correctly and truck didn’t shift gears! I just noticed it’s a Chinese brand quadrajet also! I learned how to work on older chevy’s that were pre-smog and also this is my first 4x4 vehicle. Big learning curve for me. Family friend was a mechanic that worked on funny cars so he taught me a lot! But I haven’t had my own car in over 10 years so I’m trying to remember what I was taught and trying to learn again. Basically I know a little and I want to learn, I’m a fast learner. I love learning and fixing my own vehicles so if ur willing to help me and teach me I’ll be there!

Quick question, I watched a video on cleaning carbon from engine, the guy slowly put water down the carb while he had the vehicle idling little high. Said it steam cleans the carbon build up. Does this really work?

You have to be very careful with this.
It's not water, but spray bottle and only at wide open throttle.
